I wouldnt buy kuhmos cause I hate china. But my lastest explorer had a set on it when I bought it.Cant say anything bad about them.My only concern is that 73 % of auto accidents in china are caused by blown, faulty, cheap made chinese tires!:us:

Kuhmo tires aren't Chinese. They come from South Korea....Big difference....

I have Kumho Road Venture AT KL78 31x10.5x15 on 15x8 wheels. they do verry well in the rain(no hydro planning), and seem to grip very well on the ice and snow. the only thing that i don't like is that they are really L O U D!!! they sound like mud terrains.

They have three plants in China as well as South Korea.

Its all cheap crap!! Why anyone would want to "cheap out" on the most important safety feature of their vehicle is beyond me. Nothing beats AMERICAN MADE......Period.

Quick, you better sell your explorer because only 80% of the parts are from the US or Canada  What if one of those other items is a safety item?

I have Kumho road venture 285 85 16 (33's) on 16x8 white spokes with about 30,000 kms on them they are good in the wet and ok in the snow. They're a little hard for good ice traction but ok here also.I don't expect to get much more than 50,000 kms before they become good spares.

So after reading this post I am interested in Kuhmo tires for the price, as Les Schwab/Goodyear/Sears/Tire Factory all want $600+ for the Goodyear A/T's or equivelent that I have on there now..........

"Quick, you better sell your explorer because only 80% of the parts are from the US or Canada What if one of those other items is a safety item?"- when I got my new Valve Body parts that I ordered from Fastpartsnetwork, the label said something like "Genuine American Parts, Made In Germany..........."

one reason i bought them was because every set of goodyears wore out way before there so called 65,000 mile warranty was up. the other reason was i origanly bought a set of cooper atr's and two of them had lumps in the tread and thumped going down the road so i told the shop off for letting that get out the door and would never buy another coopers again.

I had kuhmo ecsta drag radials on my infiniti, and i drove them on the street. they rocked, plain and simple. monster grip, great handling.

Well after checking into pricing for my size 255/70/16, I found the Kuhmos on Tire Rack for $95 a piece. After shipping, which I am not sure how much it would be and mount/balance/valvestems the little money I would save would not be worth the hassle of ordering. If anyone knows of anyplace I could find tires cheaper than this I would be very appreciative. I called another tire place on my way home yesterday, and they wanted $660 for a set of Cooper A/T's, I thought Coopers were a cheaper brand??

Tires have really come up in price in the last few years.

You made an excellent observation- by the time you buy tires, get them mounted and balanced at a local shop, you could have nearly bought tires at a local shop. Plus, at least around here, when you buy tires, the shop fixes flats no charge.

Shop around for tires, I call tire shops and price before I buy tires. Some places will price match, so if you prefer to do business somewhere, find your best deal and take it there.
