90'xlt bronco II
hey i have an 03' ranger that i do wheel every now any then when my bronco is down or needs recovering and i have a fiberglass camper shell on it, not too long ago i got in a precurious situation where i really flexed this truck out, in doing so i tore a part if the shell that sits on the bed rail, is there any way of avoiding this or is it a thing you have to just be careful of when wheeling with it?:rangertan:
any input is appreciated

pic of the obstacle or of the tear? i can get one of the tear.
its at the back drivers corner about 3" behind the little bolt that holds the shell on.

Pictures of the tear and the mounting system for the shell.

When I had a shell on my truck I got a lot of stress cracks in it. If the 03 frame is anywhere as flexy as the 80s and 90s frames are then the bed can really twist off road and put a lot of stress on the shell. I can see it ripping depending on how it is mounted.

...I've actually have my bed tearing but my 2year old shell is hanging in there...My shell is at the age it will soon be developing stress cracks though...:(

...I bought a shell that is heavy duty rated and is reinforced for mounting a rack on top. Some shells are made with thinner plywood but look exactly the same...I also made sure to get it carpeted from the factory in hopes it would better help with the flexing and slow down the aging of the bare fiberglass on the inside...:dunno:
