With the drag racing season coming to an end i'm putting the Lightning in storage and am buying glfredick's Explorer (yay 3 fords!!) at the end of this week.

So since i'll have something that can actually take some trails (while my 94 runs and i drive it, it always has something wrong with it) would anyone want to go out Cliffs for a day? (in a few weeks) Only guys i know of that can get in are stockers (2wd Xplorer and a Mounty) so it'd basically be me messing around on easy trails with them.

Let me know

Oh come on 19 views and no replys?

Man messing around the easy trails will be good. You will be able to get to know how the newer X reacts to angles and different terrians.

Here is one reply. I would wheel but whoops im in TN

i would go, but i'm in california and i'm still mad at you for buying that truck....

I guess, but still

Where were you thinking about going? I might be down in the area thanksgiving-Christmas-ish time.

Whenever i can find people that wanna go

hey jman, i hope you know i'm just joking, there's no hard feelings, and congrats on the new truck.

The cliffs and 2wd don't mix. especially if its open diff 2wd. limited slip or locked 2wd MIGHT get someone around the perimeter if it is dry. any bit of rain and the easy trails turn into medium-difficult trails and the medium to difficult trails turn into near impossible trails. the cliffs is SLICK when wet.

my truck with 33's when it had open diffs had to be strapped up some hills when it was nearly dry out. I dont think i ever managed to get to the cliffs with lockers. hopefully i can join you other midwest guys by spring.... my one wheel drive won't cut it for now.

I might be interested... Depends on how busy classes are and whats going on (Might have to go help my dad farm). I'll look at my schedule and see if I can post up some possible dates?

Then are you picking up the new truck?

Pilot - didn't know there was hard feelings, but its cool. I got it running and drove it around all today my friends had mixed opinions the offroad guys thought it was a great deal the truck is awesome while the drag guys all think it is a POS. There is some rust that needs tending to, the driver side windows don't go down so i gotta fix that and it burns a bit of oil, otherwise it's great.

Aric - I don't know about the 4WD system changes from the first to second gen but i have a friend that might be parting out is 92 4WD because the tranny crapped out and he doesn't wanna pay to have it fixed so if its the same things let me know and i can probably get them for dirt cheap because he'd sell me the whole engine for 400 bucks (it has no problems except the trans)

So your telling me if it rains my buddys stock Cherrokee is going to have a very hard time? hmmm

Kert - Yes i picked up the truck and its pretty beastly as i like to say but i REALLY need to clean the inside.

As to when i'd be going but i'm thinking late Oct.

if your buddy has a manual transfer case i would DEFINITELY be interested, otherewise there isn't much i could use. I'm not wasting anymore money on IFS, saving up for an f150 then i'm tearing the sploder apart.

Aric - ummm not sure have to check, what you buying an F150 for?

Kert - actually we were thinking that same weekend most likely sunday the 21st

Ok, I'm definetly going to have to go now, I just ordered a powertrax no-slip for the rear (wanted something a little softer engaging than the regular lockrite/aussie style for the snow).

Sounds good Kert

Aric checked with my friend today, no luck, its push button. didn't see any manual ones at the junkyard today either

THanks JMan! i appreciate the effort.

I want an f-150 (with the 5.4L and 4x4)because: a. i need something to drive while i tear my explorer apart and slap 1tons under it, b. i would like something that can tow the explorer to the trails, and c. i can finally afford a new(to me) vehicle. but don't worry, my sploder isn't going anywhere. its my baby even though i beat on it like a stepchild:D

Still think you should come Aric even if me or Kert have to pull you out it'll be fun, see what gets stuck first a stock Jeep or a 2wd X with 33's
