when it comes to towing.

Stock 96 EX XLT with Draw-tite round tube hitch. Do I need a drop ball mount of some sort, or does that depend on the trailer? No drop mount? 2" drop mount?

If the trailer tongue isn't level, you need either a drop or a lift, depending upon which way the tongue is tilted. When I tow my box trailer, I need a 6" drop. When I tow my Sammy, I need to flip it over and make a 6" riser so the tow bar is level.

It all depends upon the tongue height of what you are towing.

Yes, the trailer will not track properly and it can be dangerous to run a drop that is not far enough, depending on what you are towing.

My boat trailer likes to be level alot more then it does like to be on an angle. With 33's and a 4" suspension, also a hitch in the middle of the bumper it takes a 10-12" drop to accomplish that. Needless to say I will be towing with the explorer soon....
