Where to get crate motor for my explorer!?

hey everyone. i need to find a crate motor for my explorer. i want the orginal size motor thats in it now. 4.0L v6. it has a throttle body intake. anyone know of any good websites? or should i just go straight to the ford dealer and get one?

Your truck does not have a TBI chevy style intake, it has 6 individual fuel injectors

Your best bet is a remanufactured motor. Check at NAPA, Auto Zone, ect for prices. Cost should be just under $2000.

im trying not to get a remanufactured motor tho. We got our motor in our suburban for around 1,500.

There are no "new" crate 4.0L available (unless Ford has some) from anyone. Your only bet is a reman. Comparing Chevy engine prices to Ford prices is like apples and oranges, they will always be WAY different!

I talked to my dad about the motor we bought and he said we got the motor for just around 2,400. Im thinking about going to the ford dealer and seeing if i can get a new motor from them if they still make them at all.

jasper has engine, they too are reman. tho. like said you cant buy a new 4.0 crate motor. i heard some bad things about jasper but i dunno.

I currently need a new engine in my exploder and have been pricing it out. Napa has a complete remanufactured engine for about 2,200. If you go to the Ford dealership I was quoted 3,700. Jasper's engine is about 2,700. Autozone has prices all over the map.

Junk yard. Low mileage totaled truck. Buy it pull the motor and might get lucky.
