I need to get some really cheap shocks because I have to send in 3 out of the 4 defective edelbrocks I have on to get my free replacements. I cant afford any down time. So I have no choice but to slap on some EXTREMELY cheap POS. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Hi there..

Don't do this if you have to drive a lot. and it might not be safe..

I actually drove without shocks for some time.. it didn't really bother me much, but what a difference with just one shock in the front and one in the rear. I think you would get by till you get your other shocks back if you go buy yourself two shocks. you said you already have one, so add one more in the front and one in the rear.. you should be fine if you have two up front and just one in the rear.

Then when you get your new shocks sent back to ya, then you could run dual shocks in the front.

Sears has el cheapo shocks for about $10 each

Junk yard!!!!!

Hey Commocozy, I was waiting for someone to junk yard. That is the first place I tried before I posted this. No junk yards around here have any explorers, I called everyone. I will try sears and maybe use OKNUT suggestion.

hey JoeC

How many miles on your Edelbrocks? What tipped you off they were defective?

Ive had mine for less than a year and just wondering what the lifespan is.

J. Kennedy

I had 1 Edelbrock shock go bad (leaking oil via o-ring seal) about a month after install...had to send it back for a new one. The other 3 have done ok so far. I installed them in October 2000; so that's 9 months roughly. For $70 a piece, I am not impressed with them at all.

They are leaking oil. They have about 7-8k miles on them. I will be selling them when I get the new replacements. I want bilsteins.

Well whoever you sell the defective Edelbrocks to, they will be able to warranty them; that is they can get new Edelbrocks out of Edelbrock.

I am going to send the edelbrocks in and get the new ones first. I will then sell the 3 new edelbrocks and the 1 used one. Although your idea sounds pretty good too. Hmmm what should I do.

Actually when I warranteed my 1 defective Edelbrock last November, I had to send them to the vendor (Martel Brothers Performance www.martelbros.com) and then they took care of the rest. Good luck trying to deal with Edelbrock directly. I could not. Don't try it--go through the place you bought the Ed's.

Yeah, thats what I'm doing. I contacted Savanna Jones and they send them back and we will give you new replacements. I hope everything goes smoothly.
