Not sure if this belongs here or in Audio & Navigation, but since it's mainly 4th gen specific stuff, I put it here.
Here's my system:
-Kenwood 2DIN HU (built in 20 watt amp)
-4 Kicker 6x8's (75 watt rms)
-Stock sub and amp
My sub recently quit working, so I'm looking to upgrade to a kicker 8" sub rated at 300 watts RMS. Rather than just get a mono amp, I thought I'd look into getting a 5 channel amp. I haven't gotten an amp yet, but it would have to be rated at somewhere around 40-60 x4 watts RMS and 250 watts RMS.
I think I know how to install and wire an aftermarket amp to my HU, but I don't know where to put it. I was thinking that since I leave my third row seats down constantly I could mount in the third row foot well, but that isn't the best option if I ever need to use my third row seats. Anyone have any good places?
Also, did you guys run RCA's from HU to the amp, then back to the harness behind the receiver, or wires to each individual speaker? There would be about 70 amps RMS going to each speaker, so are the stock speaker wires up to the task? The sub would have to have a new wire since the old wire probably wasn't made for 250 amps.
One more question: where did you guys run all the wires to the amp? (Power wire, RCA's, turn on lead)
Thank you!
