It seems that my X is always filling up with little bits of trash. I try and keep it in the door (the little map? holders), but it just never seems to stay there. Has anyone come up with a better solution for storing the trash? I was considering going through the pain of creating a custom fiberglass 'pocket' that would be attached to the center console on the passengers side, but I don't know if I want to mess with fiberglass again. I really want some elegant, sleek solution though.

Motivation for all this? I just spent a whole day cleaning the bugger out, and the thought of having to have to do it again isn't all that fun. SO, if anyone has a nifty idea, I'm all ears!

The little removable triangle holder thing inside the center console is meant for trash. It doesn't work for old coffee cups or big stuff though, only candy wrappers or similar stuff.

I've always used the map pocket too. Every now and then things find their way into the floor, so I just keep a plastic bag in the back to pick it all up every week or so.

I actually just grab a plastic bag from the grocery store and keep it in back. at the end of the week just throw it out.

I just put the little pieces of trash in one of the cup holders. (I only need one) Then when I get tired of looking at all the gum wrappers and what-not, I just pull the rubber thingy (highly technical term) out of the cup holder and dump the trash out of it.

The big trash I just throw into the back floor board. Then when I buy something that comes in a bag, I put all the trash in the bag and throw it out.

I've thought about making a little cubby hole out of wood under the rear seats for trash. Maybe you could do it and lemme know how it turns out :D

seems I've tried them all

I've done pretty much all of the above. I had been keeping little bits of trash in the ash tray that sat in the cup holder. But now I'm usually not the only one in the truck, so both cup holders are needed. That's why I moved to the map pockets. I've also carried around the bags from the grocery stores, but then I have a bag of trash floating around, and it just isn't the look I'm going for. The problem with putting something under the back seat is I fold the thing down all the time, so I would have to move that too. I'm toying with the idea of removing the two 'fuzzy' pockets in the center console, and creating some kind of trash receptacle in one of them. Maybe pick up a used one on ebay so I don't have to wreck mine if I don't like the end result. I'd probably create some kind of custom insert with a cover, maybe like the ash trays that you can press a button on, and the top splits in two, and the sides flip up. hmmm.. (brainstorming).. OR, maybe I could leave the two 'fuzzy pockets' (what are they really called anyways?), and just create an insert that fits in one of them. I rather like that idea. I'd have to empty it a lot, but maybe that's the 'elegant solution' I'm looking for? Any thoughts, comments, ideas?

I got a bag for my trash. The type that hangs on the back of the seat. Though it does not work on my seat so I fold it and set it on the center hump in front of the front seat. It lays there nice and never goes anywhere.

Just keep it clean as you go along. 9 time out of 10, when you stop, your near a trash can. Gas station, Wally World (Wal-mart), drive thru, or home. As you wait for your gas to pump, clean out the truck. Or if you got a cup from taco bell or something, just lift the lid, throw in all the gum wrappers and small trash and deposit in the trash can in your way in the store or your house.
Keepin it Clean

I throw all my trash right on the passenger side floor. I have those Huskey plastic floor liners, they are 5 years old, have been used as sleds, and will hold all sorts of liquid and trash. When I stop at the gas station I throw it all out. Then you spray them off at the car wash.

You could also put your trash in the bed of Chevy trucks that have those calvin pissing on ford stickers and then let them deal with it, I would drop any bank statements though!!! :)

My solution has something to do with adjusting a previously listed idea.

The vinyl bag they sell(everywhere) that goes on the back of the seat via velcro straps works nice by attaching the velcro strips to one another creating a loop which you then attach to the glove box by centering the latch through the loop and closing the glove box. Walaaaa. Then you can practice your trash dunks while driving down the road.................

Or do what someone else said. Throw it to the passenger side husky floor liner and let the next passenger pick it up for you. :>)

I got a little trash bag at pep boys with a pic of Sylvester or something on it. I lifted up the passenger side of the consol and tucked Sylvester under there and pushed the consol down to hold it in place. Works great.

A grocery bag, or cute little garbage bag from the car wash will hang quite nicely over the gear shift, if you happen to have a manual transmission like me. You can probably find something else to hang it on if you don't ...

hey that's exactly what i do. i usually toss things like plastic bottles or cans or whatever in the back because they roll around a lot in the floorboard. my wife gets mad when bottles and stuff fall out when she opens the door, especially when we are out in public. oh well.

I use the cup holders and the ashtray. Once those fill up then I use the two spaces under the air controls. Once all those places are full it starts to go in the center console but by then I have it cleaned out.

OKay so now the next question is, what does your trash consist of?

Mine is gatorade bottles, beer cans, fast food bags, mostly.

Also 95Explorerxlt, Polk Audio car speakers are junk. Stay away from them unless they are for your home.

That is an instant trip to jail for Virginians!

I use the door pocket for the small stuff and all the big stuff gets dunked behind my head onto the floor right behind the driver's seat.

I beg to differ.

Actually, I got 6.5 Polks all around in my BMW and couldn't be happier with them.

Ummm, after reading a whole post dedicated to Explorer waste removal, I have some advice for you all. How about not leaving trash inside your Ex? I mean really, how hard is it to take your trash out whenever you exit? That's what I do, my interior is almost always trash free.
