Hello,

I have been trying to decide which exhaust method I wanted to go with. Currently I a running 100% stock exhaust.

I was thinking of ordering the MAC Cat-back (I found one in stock) but I was also thinking of going to the local muffler shop and just having them weld on a aftermarket muffler with a turn down before the rear axle.

Trying to be cost effective here, and trying to get most sound and power for least cost (although since HP gains are marginal with simple exhaust its not too big of deal).

Suggestions?

Just for reference, local shop said they would install a muffler (2 in, one out) with a turndown right before rear axle for about $160-200

I had my local yocal redneck shop do mine from Cats back, 2 glass packs with pipes out the corners for 200 out the door!

Sorry guys I didnt realize there was a sticky at the top regarding all exhaust options.

I ended up just running down to the local muffler shop (Richards Performance Muffler in Oceanside) and had them put on a muffler w/ a turndown.

The truck sounds good right now, but after I finally get these 33" tires installed, I am going to install the torquemonster headers and go with custom exhaust from the headers back.

Planning on true duals, straight pipes from the headers back into (2) spintech mufflers, with side exit instead of turn down.

But the new exhaust setup I have now sounds surprisingly good for the meantime. I told the guy at the shop that I just wanted something deep and loud, and he welded on a 'Wicked Flow' muffler (some cheap deal) but for now it sounds good.

u got sound clip

hey kingsnake i live in newport beach what kind of exhaust did u get

some off-brand called wickedflow. I uploaded the video above the other day. Its not too loud but has nice throaty tone.

nice i got single in and dual out 40 series flowmasters on my 01 sport i need to get sound clip of it sometime.

I had my shop do 3 inch straight magnaflows from the cat back, it sounds pretty mean on the '96 5.0. It's real throaty, none of that raspy stuff.
