How about giving the low on this whole "satellite radio" kick?

My buddie has XM...he loves it, never listens to local radio anymore.

I've got it. I love it and I never listen to local radio or CDs anymore. If you hate DJs non stop banter XM is for you. Yes they have some DJs, but the just tell you what has been played and maybe a little about a current album release or concert tour. They don't think they're comics. If you want to listen to comedy there are comedy stations to listen to.

Just last week "Deeptracks" played every song in their collection commercial free. That was pretty damn interesting. Of course I couldn't hear it all since it was playing 24/7 but what I heard was awesome.

Install cost a buck at Audio Express :D

The install was easy for me. I already had a Pioneer "XM Ready" CD Player. All I did was buy the tuner and the antenna. First step was to mount the antenna. I mounted it, center of the roof in the rear. then took the cables coming from the antenna and secured them behind the weather stripping on the rear hatch and ran them to the left and behind the interior molding to end up in the compartment where the jack is located. Then I took the tuner out of the box and ran the wires that came with the tuner from the jack compartment down behind the seat and under the threshold plastic pieces on the bottom of the back and front drivers side door then up and over behind the dash to the back of my radio. With my radio removed, it was plug and play. Pluged the info cable that came with the tuner into the back of the radio. Then spliced in to the hot wire on my radio wire harness and then into the memory wire on the radio wire harness. Put everything back in place up front. Then I went back to the jack compartment and plugged up the antenna and the power and info cables. Grounded everything and then mounted the tuner in the back using the supplied brackets. and have been enjoying XM ever since.

It sounds complicated, but seriously only took me 30 mins and was very easy to do.

Hope this helps.

Rick deeptracks is a kick butt station. I love it too.

I really wanna try XM, but I cant get past the $150 for a receiver then $50 for the antenna and the service. Can I get a cheaper receiver? I have a Pioneer XM ready HU

I found a refurbed tuner on ebay for $99 then the antenna was $45 with a $20 rebate. Everything works great.

In the Chicagoland area, I only listen to talk AM radio. Are their any talk shows on the satellite?

Ry.

I really want to see some installs of units with non-xm ready HUs.

Thasnks.....

There's nothing to see... Unplug your antenna wire from your HU plug it in to the XM box, run another lead from XM box back to the antenna input on your HU, install the XM antenna of your choice, power it up and that's it.

Thanks, I understand that, I reckon what I want to see is where people have mounted the box, the antenna, as well as the control panel.

my friend has XM. Seems like a cool thing, I still prefer CD/MP3. I like to listen to what I want and not just go with the flow sometimes, though I love how XM tells u what song is on. So no more "oh man that song is awsome! now what is it called?"

I 've got XM in my Explorer and love it. I messed up my antenna the other day, it really pissed me off.

I have XM in my Focus wagon and plan on adding it to my X, the crown Vic and my GS. Will get the removeable sony piece for them. and the house too.

I have the wires running into the X through the gasket that goes to the hatch. I had the thing to tight and smashed the wires.
