Who is interested in joining an East Coast Xplorers club?

two quick questions/suggestions.

1. Where are you planning on taking this "club"?? Are you planning on having meetings and such, group runs and so forth. From reading the thread it seems to me that theres' the groundwork set in place for a large group to get started, but it's just not going nowhere. I'm now living on the east and am willing to give ya a hand to try and get this going somehow. Since Gerald moved here it already seems that there's a chance that Tellico will have a Serious Explorations run rather often, so why not get everything up and running.

2. Does anybody have a list of the "members"?? If the club gains more and more people we may wana try and combine the clubs site and the Explorer4x4 site. If it works out that way I'd suggest a few ideas to Rick and see if he likes any of them.

Either way my butt is now on the east coast and would LOVE to see this club go further than some stickers.

Well, the PennEx chapter is up and running (website part too ). We recently had a group run (Paragon) and are having a second event at Carslile at the all Ford show at the end of the month. There was also a trail run down in VA earlier in the year.
ExplorerEB96 is also working on a NJ Pines wheeling/Jersey Shore Fishing Expedition.

I have tried (unsuccessfully) to get meetings started. I tried to start it with a barbeque at my place last year, but couldn't get anyone to show up. There are a few of us who are trying quite hard to make it work, but participation has been an issue. I would like to have a meeting at some point this spring, and I again offer my place as the meeting place. I have lots of space, and I am located right in the center of PA.

I would like to see the club setup so that there is some sort of regular meetings (could be just a get together, trail ride or show and shine).


As for members, PennEx has about 11 people right now listed as being members.

Im with Jeff.... I try but its hard..... I now live right next to paragon, I offer anyone wanting to meet and wheel up here a place to crash..... (no more hard wood floors to sleep on lol). the wheeling is awsome up here. So I too offer my place as a meeting place for the club. I would like to do more with the club, but I realize that travel, work, and finances are a big issue with alot of members. I am trying to get my own club together as well and hope to combine it with ecx, but I think that meeting atleast once a month would be a good thing. Im also trying to get a run up to the adirondacks, not some much as rock crawling but a nice getaway, we have a boat up there and there is alot of camping and things to do up that way.

Exactly. It's damn near impossible to get an entire Chapter of people together, much less the whole club. Work schedules and all that just never can agree but for a few people at a time. Meetings would never work, unless a few members live close to each other and just want to get together often.

Group runs haven't been too bad though. We had quite a few members at both of our major runs this year so far. There were more than 10 at both George Washington National Forest in Virginia and Paragon Adventure Park in Pennsylvania. More attendees would be nice though.

What makes it even tougher though is what we drive. It's not easy to get a group of Explorers to go risk breaking stuff while wheeling, or that are sweet street rides to go to car shows. Us 'non-grocery getters' are few and far between.

Given time, I think that will become a reality. Remember where we started, then look where we are now. While things are far from perfect, it's still a night and day change from the beginning. As we grow we learn, and in turn the more we learn the larger we grow. It just takes time.

Very true. But I will agree that participation is an issue but I think with enough notice in advance it allows people to set up schedules and make time for meets. I know around here ChuckyD, myself and a few others are going to have a meet at a local LI spot soon if anyone would like to join.

I am very interested, but I don't really know who to get in touch with. I go offroading every chance I get and I also put my x in car shows have 1 first, 2 seconds, and 3 third place finishes in the past year showing in 4x4 classes

dgibson - Oops! I got those emails, but deleted them before ever reading them.

For future reference, everyone emailing me regarding the ECX, please put ECX in the subject. That way I won't delete it since I don't recognize the address.

johnny - There's no Florida Chapter for one reason, never gotten any interest from anyone in Florida so far. If you want to join, that's great! I've been looking to break Georgia and Florida off into a seperate Chapter for a while now. I've already got a Coordinator lined up for it and everything.
