I am a volunteer with my local EMS and need to hook up a lightbar, siren, wigwags and 2 radios. Will the factory system support all this?
Also, is the best way to run a 4-guage wire from the battery to a junction box inside the truck? From there, I can hook up my accessories. I don't run them all the time, but they do get run at the same time when they do.
Suggestions?

Apart from the radios, I would use a separate junction box to run the other hardware. Run it directly off the battery and be sure to use adequate fuses. You could fabricate a nice looking switch box as well somewhere under the dash.

There are a couple of guys that have outfitted their Xs similar to yours.
If they dont chime in you can try a search.

Iam very sorry I did not see this thread sooner. Your explorer will handle it. You might wanna get a optima yellow top battery and a heavy duty altantor. Heres my setup. I mounted my siren speaker behind my grille on a lower support infrton of the raditaror. You might have to cut some plastic out of the way. Do not use a cone speaker. Use a flat speaker. P.S. Do not mount the speaker in the wheel weel at all. I did that and went through 1 speaker a year until I relocated it.

Cool, thanks for the pics. This gives me an idea on how to run this. I have a mini-Code 3 on the Ex now. I'm thinking of getting a full bar with my next check from the township.

If you plan to install Mobile Radios... Good luck with that, as you know we have limited room in the console area. Unless you have a CDM1250 with the removable face. So you can hide the actual unit and mount the face and mic anywhere you want.

FYI, there's lots of space below that dumb cubby-hole at the front end of the console. You could easily mount a full size radio in it so long as you don't mind cutting a bit.

I just noticed he has a 94 Explorer. So he has more open space in the front with less consoles
