Title pretty much says it all. I have access to a set of a second gen injectors. I have a 92 explorer with I'm pretty sure the original injectors. Just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I tried to search the subject but can't seem to see anyone doing this.

Not really

Injectors from a 95-97 ohv 4.0 might work for you they deliver the same amount of fuel and the connectors are similar to your 92
However in 98 the fuel systems changed to returnless and the injectors are completely different also a different wiring connector

Why not just buy a set of remans for your 92, can get a set of six for well under $100
Or you can even remove your injectors and bench test, bench clean, and even rebuild them yourself

Well I went ahead and swapped my 92 injectors out with some injectors out of a 97 explorer sport. The old 92 ones where single hole and the 97's are 4 hole. So far they are working perfect. I think I might have gotten rid of my pinging problem, but I'm going to have to drive it a few more days to see if I'm going to get better mileage. I seems like I don't have to push the gas pedal down as far, for the same amount of power as before the swap. I'm hoping to be able to run regular grade gas now since with the old injectors I HAD to run mid grade to stop it from pinging.

Before I installed the 97's injectors I tested them, and they had a good pattern with no streaming. I used a hose with some hose clamps, and hooked them up to my compressor, and ran some cleaner through them.

So injectors from a 97 ohv pushrod 4.0?

I’m 98+ the injectors changed so it’s good you used a 97

It was an ohv motor. So far after a day of driving I gotta say it's freeway manners have improved by a huge margin. I've run all the mid grade gas out of it and I'm on the low grade stuff and the pinging is gone. I'm extremely happy with the results.

Are they yellow tops or blue tops? Yellow is i think 19# and blues are 24#

By the way the old ones I pulled out where green.
