Hey guys so i got a small problem that is really bugging me. I have a 2004 explorer and i have it as my spare car so i dont use it to often. One day i was going to use it and the FM/AM didnt work, the CD does work and the speakers are completely fine. I checked the antenna and i took out the radio to check if there was something unplugged but no luck then i checked the fuse box and still nothing. Then i was going to put the driver window down and it didnt want to go down either all the other windows work perfectly but not the driver window what can i do or how can i fix it?.

Thank you.

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

I had similar electrical issues with my '02 XLT. The dome lights would stay on until the battery saver feature turned them off, the accessory delay wasn't working, the driver side puddle light didn't work, the keypad on the door would set off the alarm when I pressed it, the door ajar light would flash and beep at highway speeds, the radio would shut off as soon as I turned the key off, the alarm would beep twice when I armed it. Recently all 4 windows stopped working. Most recently the driver door lock actuator stopped working.

A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found 3 broken wires and repaired them. The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal. When the windows stopped working, I repaired the thick black ground wire and the windows now work like a champ. I had to repair the pink/black wire to fix the driver door lock actuator.

Here is the thread for removing the door panel: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=303524

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Be sure to take your time when looking for broken/damaged wire(s). Check all the wires for breaks/damage. When you think you're done looking, look again, and again, and again. A bright flashlight can be very helpful.

Good luck getting it sorted. :biggthump

I can post some info when I get home tonight.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

Here is a great link for troubleshooting the power windows. It's for the 2002 but should give you some good guidance, thanks to theofam for this great link Dead Link Removed

I have this downloaded and can send it upon request.

As far as the radio goes, there is nothing in my shop manuals for troubleshooting No AM/FM. I suspect that the radio has to be replaced.

Hope this helps out. Keep us posted.

My 2002 ford explorer acted up after I put in a new alternator.
I had no power windows, no power seats, no interior lights, no radio ... i could not get in my rear window due to electronic switch ... and my panel had various lights on and off ...

I tried several things that i found on the internet ... none of em worked.

YOU WONT BELIEVE THIS >>> I pulled all fuses and relays that i thought might be a problem ... then i started it up ... then i started putting the fuses back in ... i put a 5amp fuse in and all of a sudden i heard Peter Gabriel at 90 dbs .... wooo hooo ....

CRAZY BUT ITS TRUE

I Called my mechanic and he had never heard of such a thing but said he would try it next time he was stumped ... and if it works ... i get a case of beer
