I just got my Henson Performance Xcal today. And man I will say that it sure woke my truck up. I have not tried it with 92 oct and the performance tune yet but it does nice in the 87 street tune. If anyone is thinking if they should do it or not call them up and get one. Thanks again!

Nice, my next check im about to get one. So what was the total cost? Also did it already come pre-tuned to your truck or what? I'm still confused about how this process works..

He made me some custom tunes for my X with the mods I have on my truck. Total Cost was about $420 shipped CDN which would be the same for US just prob less on shipping.

You will love this.

Boy, did James get my truck running good!!

I may have done a lot of wrenching, but it was all wasted time until he put the pieces together.

I give him all the credit for a fine running vehicle.

Really, I should probably expect another boost in acceleration from this then?so did you re-tune your truck?

Yes, and yes:D

And no--still have the dyno tuning to do.

you can fine tune it yourself with the one I got.. cept I cannot change tire ratio to fix my speedo and I thought you would have been able to.

Speedo fix for your years is still required by changing a gear, I got mine a "Freedom Ford" for $27 I think.

where is the gear you have to change?

I think I will just leave it. It racks up less KM's that way. or at least it says it does..

sorry to dig up an old thread but i have an xcal 3 that was used on my old svt contour, has no use know, anyone know what i have to do to unlock it? and how much it would cost to get retuned.

It cost $100 to unlock it. It will be the same no matter who does it as the price is set by SCT.

James at www.hensonperformance.com can do it. He is the man:thumbsup:

I have seen placed advertise on Corral.net that can unlock the SCT for less than $50...

Are they an autorized dealer? You also need someone that knows how to tune an EXPLORER.

I don't believe that is not the only way to change for gearing or tire size. On a 99, you can change the parameters in the ABS module. In earlier models, you MAY be able to do it through the GEM module program. (just speculation on that one) You make these changes to the ABS using an NGS or similar tool.

so it really makes that much of a difference to tune 5.0 explorers?

I third that.I've whooped so many cars since the Tuner is un-real. In fact I honestly haven't lost a real race yet with it. With that said , I'm going back to KCIR next month and if You really gained 6 tenths just from the tune I should expect to do VERY well over last visit!
