uh...."baha through the himalayas"

Can you say PANZIE!

Um, new fuel tank from a junkyard or aftermarket source: $50-300 :)

Does this guy believe that Ford (or any other manufacturer) should fix every problem that occurs on his vehicle as long as he owns it? His tank went bad (probably from very cheap gas) and he thinks Ford should just replace that for him for free? I have quite a list of problems with my 7 year old X, should I go back to Ford and then get pissed when they tell me they aren't going to fix it for free?

This guy is a bit off,

Robb

Someone needs to tell them that fuel tanks can go bad, just like any other part that contacts corrosive substances. The truck is a 94 for crying out loud!

I posted a rebuttal. We'll see what happens. I was very polite; but stated that it's not directly Ford's problem or fault. I provided reasonable suggestions and advice.

I own a 94 X and have Never had a problem with it.

I think this guy is over-reacting a little.

How does a plastic fuel cell go bad?

I can see it being ripped open off road, one of the hanging straps getting damaged, the fuel pump going out, the filler tube getting ripped, or something to that tune, but how does a plastic tank "go bad"?

This guy probably had his fuel pump replaced and they took him for a new tank, and now he's pissed....

It's amazing how the dealerships and any other reapir shop for that matter try to take advantage of customers. They play the averages. They figure if they call you up anbd say "yup, it needs a new clutch to the tune of $800" and of course you say, okay go ahead. Later they find maybe your rear main seal is leaking a little they figure you approved the $800 that easy they mine as well give it a shot, so they call you up and say "We've got some more problems, the rear main is leaking and the oil can get n your clutch and void your warranty, etc, etc, another $1200 to fix that". Most peoplel trus these rip off artist enough to say "well if it's gotta be done" nex thting you know your $800 clutch comes out to $3000. Then 6 months down the road the clutch goes out! hahahahaha it's a never ending game....

It took me an hour to drop my fuel tank and replace the intank pump,of course a BII is a little easier then an Explorer but the whole job took about 4 tools and a $65 pump, and I had never even thought about dropping my own fuel tank before that.....

Oh and my $1200 clutch job didnt last 10K miles, I did the next 4 clutchs, after that myself for about $60 each, about 6-12 hours of labor each time....
Heck it cost me $1200 total to have a custom heavy duty A4LD built and convert the entire truck to an automatic including all the junk yard parts, computer, cooler, lines, fluids, etc.....

Get a second opinion if you cant do it yourself...

It's not Ford's fault that he's a dumbass.

There is an explantion for this, b/c he is a she. She probably got sucked into one of those games they play and didn't know any better.

Getting a second opinion is good advice.

baha through the Himalayas.
I wasnt aware the himalayas was a desert.
That reminds me of a post i saw on here not to long ago about a guy who has a 1st gen and the cable that held the spare tire on snapped. He made a big fuss about how ford should do something about it and how he shouldnt have to worry about such things. I know to some people this is a big thing but i consider it the normal crap that happens when you own a vehicle. I could go on but i wont. :) On Another note I see the ladie who wrote that is from NJ. Im from NJ and there are alot of soccer mommies running around with nothing better to do than ***** about everything.

I hate dumb people, must have owned a Chevy previously (It is my belief that the Bow Ties cut off the amount of oxygen to the owners brain, thus making them stupid) :)

Of course they don`t care. look at the exploding Pinto fiasco that they knew they would save money paying out to burn victims rather than recalling them!

:D How do I get my Ex to the himalayas?

And the term Baja refers to Baja California.. Baja in its Spainsh Translation means "Below" and Baja is generally associated as the little strip of land between Southern California and Mexico

HaHa, this guy must have been driving a Toyoto before... They never break down!;)

I'll tell ya what though, ive had alot of problems with my X and same with all American cars before my X. Im never gonna buy Amercian made junk anymore! My buddy has two Toyoto's(10 and 4 years old) hes never had one problem with them, NEVER!

More and more people realize Japanese is the way to go, just look at the facts.

Um ok. I love my truck it may be a bit tempermental but i would never trade it for some rice burner. I guess most people dont understand routine maintenance. But your from NJ so Ill blame your comments on that.

HeHe, the NJ part was funny!:) I got a real kick out of it.

I love my X, just like many others do. The first thing that i liked about the Explorers where the design and style, nothing beats American style!! But if your looking for quality??? Your much better off buying Japanese. If you think other wise then your heads up your ass. As for routine maintenance goes... my X is kept in tip top shape and is allways on time for reg maintenance.;)

So look at the facts bro, Jap is by far better quality! Till you can show me other wise... shut yer hole!!!:p

yea, Jap. cars last much, much longer than American (repeat to yourself, using sarcastic tone). my wife has a toyota MR2. real quality there. we have had to replace nearly every freakin' switch and electrical component in that P.O.S. windows worked every now and again, CD player crapped out, speedo cable, dome light controller, you name it, if it had a wire than it is now new. the ONLY thing i give them credit for is the engine. toyota can build an engine that you can put a bazzilion miles on and it will run like new. too bad they cant build a car that will keep up. oh, did i forget to mention i spent $500 on a new computer a couple of months ago? stock one fried while she was on her way to morning classes. also had to fix 5 DIFFERENT OIL LEAKS. i got sick of pouring oil absorbant on the garage floor/driveway. sorry, not downing Japanese cars, as i have nothing against them. the fact is, Dodge/Ford/Chevy/Toyota/Honda- any one of them can be a P.O.S. just by owning one that says "Toyota" on the back doesnt mean its gonna be the ut-most in reliablilty. by the way, my X has about the same mileage as the MR2, and it has never had anything done but the oil/tranny fluid changed, and new plugs. go figure.

"OH, WHAT A FEELING... (to be raped by) TOYOTA!

Sorry to hear about your car problems, but i didnt say Japanese was perfect! I just said they are of better quality. Nothing out there is perfect. Somtimes you get a lemon and some times ya get lucky i guess.

Fact of the matter is, Jap on average last longer then American cars. NOT just Toyoto, Honda, etc... That is fact, and has been proven.;)

Go figure, ive had a ton of problems with my X!
