Solid Axle Swap Registry

If you have completed a solid axle swap on your Explorer and would like to share the results with others this is the place to do it:D This isn't the place to talk about a work in progress, rather a place for the FINAL results, specs, instructions etc
ok,i just bought this, its technically a 92 frame, with a 97 body on it,i just trailered it home sunday. i havent had much time to go over it,but the few things i do know...it needs a better front axle. the entire drivetrains from a 67/68 bronco d30 front/9inch rear/302 and c4 trans with a dana20 i beleive tcase, its a cast iron case, very very closely resembles a NP205. it needs ALOT of work, but i got a pretty good deal on it,i paid 700 for it as you see in the pics. it also needs new springs all around, mainly, the front leaves are 6 inch {rear} ranger lift leafs.and they sagged quite a bit under the weight of the 302,and the rear is SOA conversion with i beleive 4 inch lift leafs, and 4 inch blocks,id prefer to just get taller...

For my 10,000th post I guess I will start my SAS registry now that the truck is done. Section525's SAS Build thread Specifications Front '83 Wagoneer LP D44 JCW 5-leaf Springs (Stockers) Detroit EZ Locker Spicer 4.88 gears Warn Premium Hubs Rock Equipment Super Boy Howdy Fabricated Knuckles Sky Manufacturing High-steer arms Pro Comp MX6 Shocks Rear Stock 8.8 SOA Sierra 4.88 gears Detroit EZ Spidertrax 5x4.5 to 5x5.5 adapters Stock shocks The Build The LP D44 came out of a 1983 Jeep Wagoneer. I was there when the guy pulled it out from under the Jeep. It was nice to see the condition of the donor before buying the axle. I began the tear-down of the axle and everything looked good inside. I used TT Fab...
So I had a EB D44/9" combo and some 33" Super Swamper LTB's, but then my friend had these axles for sale. Now I have a D60 and a D70. The 60 is low pinion, but is king pin. Gears ar 4.10's for now, 5.13's are in the future. Rear D70 has Discs added. Tires are 36x13.5x16 Iroks Front springs are 6.5" BC Bronco coils. Using modified late '70's F150 buckets. Rear is spring over with a 1" 0 rate. I will add some shackles to level it out soon. Here is a pic: In that pic one side is still on a jackstand and higher than with the tire, so the front is actually a bit lower now. I will get more pictures later, but I have beenbusy working on it! Here is a before pic:
Hey guys, I just pretty much finished the major fabrication of my SAS on my 92 Sploder, still need tires cuz I dont think 32s will look too good. It is a Dana 30 (dont laugh), and Im not sure how much lift it is but I need a new front driveline. It barely bolts up to the axle fully extended. My question is what did you guys do for your drivelines?...did you get it custom made or what? I have some more pics but here is a couple if my truck , if it helps...thanks.
I have finaly done it my truck now sits on a dana 30 on its own weight. i am pumped up i have waited for a long time for this day. I used chevy springs from a tahoe rear jeep shakel mounts and made my own front hanger. i have about 2 more days worth of stuff to do but i am pumped!! i am gona do a SOA on the rear and then take some pics to share. i know its not a dana 44 and 9 inch but its a low budget stump jumpin machine.
Hey guys. Thought I would put this here so those of you who are doing SAS can use it if you need it. I am selling the steering setup on my SAS. Here is my Setup Description with Pics: more info on my SAS can be found here Steering: I purchased all the Steering link parts from RockWare (http://www.rockware.net/) 4 3/4" Heim Joints with a 3/4" hole (2 Left hand Threads, 2 Right Hand Threads) Weld in Threaded ends for the Tubing 1 1/8" Seamless DOM tubing I used 3/4" Grade 8 Bolts for all the Steering. Here is the link to my car domain site. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2209152 It has been a long three year process reasearching, building, and collecting. I still have a few things to decide on like shocks and my explorer axle swap on the back. I am just ready to take er out and drive it. I will post more pics of the suspension and crossmember and hopefully some action shots later. I welcome all questions and comments. This site is awesome and it would have been alot harder to accomplish without it.
Hey y'all, just got mine on tires Friday night, and thought I'd post up my progress on it..... its just about done, I just have a few bugs out that I'll be asking about in either this thread or another one. but onto the stats. Since the AZ wheeling season is finally upon us, I decided it was time to put my new truck in the shop for a little tweaking to better handle the trails around here. A little about what I started with: Specs: 5 speed, manual tcase, 5.13's, discs and no slip in rear, 37 MTR's(street) and 36 TSL's(rocks). The goal for this project was to build something that was able to drive to the hardest trails in AZ, run them successfully, and then drive home. It must also be able to be driven everyday as this is my main source of transportation. All decisions were made with a bias towards trail performance, instead of street comfort. Build Specs: Dana 44 - Left over from my last project. - Warn shafts, CTM's, Detroit, 5.13's...
Kind of new to the forum. Signed up a while back but haven't posted much. Explorer specs. mostly stock 4.0, built A4LD, manual 1354, HP44 front, 9" rear. Front has 5.13's, ARB, high steer. Rear is detroited, 5.14's with a currie case, disk brakes with caddi calipers. 4" custom Alcan leafs in the rear. 5.5" BC bronco's EB springs in the front with custom coil buckets. 1 ton drag link end steering. AC pump converted to on board air run to rear bumper. Tires are 36x12.5x15" TSL SX's. I don't have a whole lot of pics of it. I usually go by myself and I don't have a camera. This winter it's getting a 5.0 HO swap, AOD to NP208, HP 60 front with the same gears and locker as now, and a dana 70 rear with...

well i finally got the thing driveable. i am still lacking a front driveshaft (that is why i am bearly flexing in the pic, i had to creep up in 2wheel) the tranny pan has a slight leak, i need to replace a rear wheel seal but other then that its rockin. the 351 has about 55 psi when cold and about 25-30 hot. the motor runs cool, not sure how cool because i dont have a temp gauge but i am running a large electric fan, a rigid fan off the water pump, and a 160 degree thermostat. its a four core aluminum radiator that is the the same size as an explorer radiator. i am running the tranny cooler in the radiator and an aftermarket one. there are still quite a few little things i have to pick at to get right but its basically done...
