My 01 Fully Loaded XLT IS Dead!, Here's The Story...Over This Weekend It was Raining Pretty Hard Here in North Jersey, So I Decided to take a drive to the local Sears Store About 5 Miles From My House....On My Way back home i was traveling down a local backroad at around 35 MPH, The Roads Were Slick, Full Of Leaves, My Tires Were Bald, etc, as i was coming around the bend My Truck Started to Fishtail and i began to lose total Control, it swerved from side to side a few times and it picked up momentum and it kept fishtailing, needless to say it flipped over (driver's face down) and slid along the guardrail about 25 feet until the rear end smashed into a utility-pole, at that point i shut-off the engine, un-buckled my seat-belt and climbed out of the sun-roof!! Luckily i wasn't hurt at all! But My Explorer!! Its Totalled!! Now what do i do collect the insurance money and buy another 01'?? or should i get the newer 02's or 03's or maybe even a Chevy Tahoe.....I Mean The 2nd Gen explorers do have a high-rollover rate and they arn't the safest suv on the market, thats why ford switched to independent suspenison and stuff, But I Loved It!!, My Budget it tight now, and maybe you guys have some advice!!! Ill Try to post some pics from the Wreck!!!

( I Cant seem to figure out how to put the photos on this page!! any help!!) I Sent them from my camera phone to my e-mail... how do i get them from my e-mail to here??

Dang sorry to hear that. Your story is almost identical to one I read about a Mach 1 just yesterday. He was running drag radial tires though. Either way, both of you were running bald tires which is never a good idea in the rain.:(

Actually drag radials are not slicks, and are okay on wet roads, but they only last 3/4k miles, due to a very soft sticky rubber compound.
Pic is of my stang drag radials.

Glad to hear you are ok.

Sorry to hear it. Glad you're ok though.

To put pictures, put them up on putfile.com, or a similar site. Or become an elite explorer.

Sorry to hear about your "X", it took me quite a while to realize when I had an accident that the most important thing was that I was OK. I was so aggrevated about my truck, but at least I was ok to be aggravated.

I would go with another 01 IMOO I think they are more robust.

Glad to hear you're ok.

As far as rollover rates go, I don't drive my truck easy, and both this one and my old '95 have never felt like tipping.

Got to keep them in good running order to keep them safe. Can't blame the truck for bald tires...

I've always found that the best thing to do when i fishtale in my Explorer is to stay on the gas, and avoid touching the brakes. I only recommend this if you know how to control a powerslide (kinda like drifting).

I found out this tip by doing the opposite one night on a dirtroad. It was my birthday and i was on my way to the afterparty at my friends house and i had 4 girls in the truck. Stupid me wanted to be cool and kick the rear end sideways whenever i drove onto the dirtroad, but whenever it got a little "too" sideways, i panicked and slammed on the brakes while turning the wheel the opposite direction of the skid. I then slid sideways off of the road and took out two trees and a barb-wire fence. Everyone was okay and AMAZINGLY the only damage to my Explorer was....the bottom valence of my bumper cracked and the metal on my foglight housing got scraped.
