93 Sport "Deep Purple"

I have 2 goodyears on the back, the kind from walmart for 75 dollars each. They might be about 50% life left.

The tire that blew, I paid 20 bucks for it and put probably 12 to 15 thousand miles on it, and that's money well spent in my opinion. There was no telling how many miles were on it previous.

The damage just helps my desire to upgrade the tupperware and fender flares to the 2nd gen style.

I hear you there. I wasn't happy forking over the $$ for my tires but it's a big safety item.

I was looking into new tires, but I was trying to hold out. Wife's car needs tires too. :thumbdwn: There's an easy grand down the drain.

We bought Walmart tires once......once......

I've physically compared tires from Walmart to other places...Walmart tires are made cheaper, so they are cheaper (less tread, lesser quality compound)...will never buy tires from there ever again, no matter what kind of warranty they put on them....

The Wranglers we bought from Sears (Black Friday sale, almost 4 years ago) cost us about $90 each after all the rebates and stuff...they were a good tire and still have about 80% tread left on them. If for some God-only-knows reason I'd go back to a stock size tire, I'd go back to those Wrangler Silent Armors...

BFG A/Ts best all round tire you can get i run them on my Ranger and Explorer. 31s wont cost to much either!

I have run them before on an s10 blazer. Good tires. I'm after a meatier mud terrain type tire.

I looked at those since they're close in price to the Cooper AT/3's but they don't have enough siping for my liking being that I live in an area with snow and ice and the Explorer is my only winter rig. Plus, I already had the Coopers on another vehicle and absolutely LOVE how the snow clears out of the tread so quickly. If you just sit and spin your tires with the Coopers, it throws out exact copies of the tread made out of snow. The tread always clears by the time it rotates around to grab the ground again. That combined with the fact that most everybody that has them has said they perform excellently in the rain and wet pavement made me want to buy them. They may not be a fantastic mud tire but I don't get into much mud and if I had to, I got a set of chains.

Then get BFG Mud Terrains.

I had those on my Ranger they sucked at everything.

I bought two decent used tires for the truck, they aren't anything amazing as far as all terrain or mud terrain type tire. I had one of my decent tires patched from a bolt or really large road hazard, as I'm not sure what punctured the tire. This should tie me over for a little bit.

I had the tires mounted on my old set of teardrop wheels. The truck looks better IMO with the tear drops versus the old ranger wheels that are in previous pics.

I finally got 4 new tires for my beast. I purchased the Walmart Goodyear wrangler radials you get for $75 a piece. They aren't the best tires, but since I'm still at stock height there's no need in buying anything fancy.

The truck rides much better now.

I've had my truck for a year and I still love it. I'm doing a few changes in my life that will allow me to keep my same truck driving job but be home more often. So I might actually get to drive my truck more often.

I drove it two weeks ago and I have a odd noise in the back, it doesn't feel like the rear but probably more in the brakes. Either way it might be time to source up a disc brake rear end. I hate drum brakes when it comes to working on them. The truck has over 235k miles so maybe I can find a low mileage rear axle assembly.

No new updates. I've focused a lot of time on my 94 Z71.

I'm on the hunt for a complete wire harness from a 93-94 limited. This means fuse box behind the dash wires, and the stuff inside the engine bay. I want to make a sport limited model.

Let me know if someone has a junker.

I have been driving her lately, mostly because my Silverado gets 11 mpg.

I just ordered clutch stuff.

My purchases include:
Shift rail bushings
shifter repair kit
clutch
pre bled clutch master cylinder

I already have a motorcraft slave cylinder purchased.

I had to bite the bullet and buy the stuff, because the quality of shifting has diminished greatly. I have been putting this off for a year now.

I also went to the junkyard today and bought an entire 94 limited wiring harness. I ran out of time, but I have to go back and finish grabbing the part of the harness that ties into the overhead computer.

I pulled the dash and removed the harness from the junk truck, as well as the harness inside the engine bay.

New parts came in, had a beautiful day outside with perfect weather, so some things got started.

Transmission/ transfer case dropped out to see what my problem was, and just as I expected, I found it.

This is the leaky shift rail bushing problem, and has obviously been leaking for quite sometime.

Notice how it has leaked all down the side of the transmission.
IMG_0744_zpsqv1mzzk5.jpg

Rear main seal has been leaking too, as well as the slave cylinder.

Clutch disc isn't too bad, but it gets replaced anyway. This proves the lady I bought it from didn't lie about having clutch work done. This looks like 40k miles or so usage.
IMG_0746_zpsmcngtnii.jpg

Pressure plate has a few hot spots from slipping the clutch (not by me).
IMG_0747_zps3vbvq9ix.jpg

Flywheel has heat cracks and hot spots as well. This gets replaced.
IMG_0750_zps7yhxhy02.jpg

And the biggest POS is this cheap Chinese slave cylinder. I cut the line, because I ordered a pre-bled clutch master cylinder assembly.

The motor is going to get pulled to service a few oil leaks, and maybe a few extra parts.

Truck has 238k miles, and oil pan, and both main seals have been leaking for a long time. While doing the oil pan gasket, might as well toss in a new oil pump since I am right there. The rubber on the harmonic balancer is cracked, so I am going to replace it too.

Subscribe and stay tuned.... if things go like I want, a camshaft just might make it's way in the mix as well. :)

Hmmm, almost all the same things Ive got going on, though I sealed my shifter plugs got sealed a couple years ago. I'll surely be paying attention here as well as post info on my job. Glad you e got nice weather and time to begin the work. I'm sure you'll love your truck when it's all buttoned up and running!

Yeah every once in a while it isn't miserably cold here in Oklahoma during the winter, which means summer is probably going to be hell.

The last explorer I did a clutch in was a night and day difference. Although I pulled out an original clutch on that one at 200k.

It is kind of a snowball effect of things, you see one problem then another, and you have to take this off to get to that, hell by the time you're done you have a half overhauled motor.

Exactly!

Sometimes, while its overall best in the big picture view, it can be better in the small picture view to do these things in bite sized jobs otherwise it's too much to handle. When you've done it before it's not too bad, but it's takes a job 10x longer when it's new to you. First time I did the complete LIM gasket it was a whole weekend thing, now it is a few hours and I know what tools to have and where each piece goes.
