Our luck has run out at about 50,000 miles

Just my luck... Went to drop off the Explorer this morning and the "Wrench" light had turned itself off upon restart this morning.

I still dropped it off after explaining what error messages I recieved, and also told them to take care of the backup camera recall at the same time.

We rented a Honda CR-V. What a downgrade! As soon as I got into the Honda for the first time I knew that it was a POS. Seat is as hard as a rock, I expected padding when I dropped into the seat. FM radio is non-functioning, nothing, but static and it will not find any stations. The only audio available is through a connected phone's Bluetooth. Sluggish as a snail. CVT transmission feels terrible making the vehicle feel gutless no matter what speed it's at.

I sure hope we don''t have it for too long. LOL

That’s is the best advertisement for Ford is how bad the CRVs are.

Hi Rick. I see some things don't change. In 1981 I was looking to get a more fuel-efficient vehicle. I had a very thirsty 1979 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. I went to a Honda dealership and looked at one of their cars (can't recall the model) and as soon as I sat in it I immediately got out and turned the keys back to the salesman saying "No thanks". The seat was the same as you described. I went around the corner to the Datsun (Nissan) dealership and bought a 1981 Datsun 510 Wagon with a manual transmission. Drove it for 9 years.

Those old wagons were cool!

Used to joke about if cars were designed by Microsoft. When there's an error, restart the car and continue on like nothing happened.
But it would randomly freeze when driving, and you'd hace to ctrl alt del to get it to go again 😂

Love the wagons! Althouh my favorite Datsun will always be the 720 p/u

I had a 98 Honda Civic sedan five speed hand me down. It was an uncomfortable hunk of junk, but man did it go the distance. Still haven't loved a vehicle like I did that Honda.

Yep … the 720 was a sweet little truck , the 720 truck was replace with the Nissan D 21 a.k.a. hardbody. This is my 1994 hardbody 2.4 liter 5 speed with 172000 miles all original including the paint. The only thing I’ve changed was I tinted the windows and put some 17 inch rims on it 20 years ago. My grandkids love to ride in it they’ve never seen a car that you have to manually roll the windows up and down.

My father was an Oldsmobile man for decades. He went up the line from Delta 88s to 98s and finally to the Toronados. In the late 70s early 80s he bought a couple of the diesel Toronados hoping the 2nd would be better than the first. The Oldsmobile diesels were junk. They were basically just converted gas engines and they had a ton of problems. In 1982 he bought a Volvo and never bought an American car again. :(

I think what really pissed him off was when my 1974 VW with Bosch fuel injection started right up on a super cold Chicago winter morning when his Oldsmobile wouldn't start.

From the mid 70s to the early 80s was a dismal time for anything made in Detroit.

I got word that the repair will be fixed under warranty. They will be performing the repair per the TSB. I will provide more details once I get the final documentation.

My wife was out for the day in the Honda rent a wreck. She is picking up dinner for us and as she was pulling into the Carabbas parking lot the dash lit up with all sorts of warnings - just like our Explorer! Traction control, brakes, steering, etc. I Googled the messages and found a forum which discusses the same issue. Each of the people who had the problem continued to drive the vehicle home and on the way the errors cleared. For one they couldn't find anything wrong at all, for others they found minor issues seemingly unrelated to any of the codes, such as a corroded throttle body.:dunno:

These computers on wheels are great until they glitch out. Then they are an owner and mechanics nightmare. :(

I know this is off topic, but I just have to share.

From a CR-V Facebook group:

"Very common, the infamous "all warning light pop" for all Hondas of this generation and the previous ones. There is no specific cause and solution.
However, you can try this for troubleshooting:
1. Turn off the car and turn back on after a few minutes.
2. Reset the infotainment system.
3. Press home
4. Clean your radar/ sensors
5. Keep driving carefully until it goes away."

This had to be the best reply:

"That’s what happened to me today, every warning light & message. Turns out my radar sensor was stolen."

:banghead:🤣

Well the Honda turned into a Ram Rebel with a Hemi... and I like it! LOL

I get the feeling that the pandemic chip shortage is leaving the entire new car industry with computer problems. I'm sure what ever chips companies were able to scrounge up probably aren't the best quality to begin with. 10 years from now when this whole thing blows over we'll laugh at this and have stories for the next generation.

Now we're talking. Tell them to take their time yeah?

Wondering if the explorer will turn into a ram with a hemi.

No, we still have a Ram for towing and don't need another pickup in our lives.
