    Loose steering shaft?

Thanks. Do you replace the whole steering box?

    Loose steering shaft?

I've checked the other threads and all of the guys with similar problems seem to have body lifts. My 1994 X is stock height and the steering is getting squirrelly. The steering wheel is also ****ed a little to the left when the X is going straight. I've checked the tie rods and they're...

    sagging door fix w/ pics

Cool. As soon as it stops SNOWING and gets back to spring temps I'll have to tackle the door sag on my driver's side.

    sagging door fix w/ pics

I know it says to support the door with a jackstand, but my question is can this be done solo, or is it strictly a two person job? I know two would be more convenient, etc, but can you replace the hinge pin just by yourself?

    Swap in a digital cluster?

Not real sure on when the aerostars had the digital cluster. I just remember seeing one in a junked aerostar at U-Wrench-It. If I go back soon I'll check it out, but it definitely wasn't std gauges like my mom's 93 aerostar.

    Swap in a digital cluster?

I've been reading the posts about the indiglo gauges and people putting on aftermarket gauges for tranny temp, etc. I came up with some questions about swapping analog gauges for a digital cluster, from say a lincoln or an aerostar. - Is this even possible? - Would you need new sensors for...

    Air in slave cylinder? 01/05/05

I appreciate all of the feedback. Just to let everyone know, I had them replace the clutch on my request, because it was really worn, and in a little while I'll probably be selling the X. I guess I had crappy luck with the previous clutch. The shop was really nice when I talked to the owner. In...

    Air in slave cylinder? 01/05/05

Believe me I would love to, but classes start Mon and I have to get from Ky back to Columbus, OH. Plus, is they screwed up something in the slave cylinder when they installed it I'll have a little leverage. I want it fixed right, but I want to know if what I'm being told is right. This will...

    Air in slave cylinder? 01/05/05

I hope that this belongs in the 911 thread, as I'm running out of options. I need ammo when I take my Ex back into the shop tomorrow. It's a 1994 XLT 4wd with 118,000 miles on it. I got the slave cylinder and master cylinder done on Mon. (I kept having to add fluid and finally couldnt get it...

4WD Not working - OR - Operator Dumb?

Do a search about cleaning the tcase motor. The contacts in mine were black and shouldve been copper. A little electrical cleaner and a paper towel fixed my problem.

    Slave Cylinder and what else?

I appreciate the response. Unfortunately the part is no longer under warranty. I agree, how hard is it to make a decent part? The first one lasted 90K miles, why do the others not even last 20K miles? And you'd think that if you had such a consumable part youd put it OUTSIDE where a tranny...

    Slave Cylinder and what else?

Well, happy holidays to everyone. Mine isn't so happy as it would seem that my slave cylinder has gone out again and I need to know what to get replaced, etc. Currently I have a 1994 XLT 4x4 with approx. 117K miles on it. At about 90K I had the clutch and all of the other goodies like the...

    Which 1st: DPFE of EGR?

Well, I finally went and got a replacement DPFE. Reset the computer after I installed the new one, and BAM, no more CE light. It's not even been a week, but I've driven over 300 miles on the new DPFE and have yet to see a CE light. I appreciate all of the input and hope that this will help...

    Which 1st: DPFE of EGR?

Thank you. I figured the DPFE would be the place to start, but I wanted to make sure before I took stuff apart or threw any money at the problem. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

    Which 1st: DPFE of EGR?

I recently got the wonderful check engine light on my 94 XLT to come on. I pulled the codes from it and got the following: KOEO 335 PFE or DPFE sensor out of self-test volt range 522 Not in park or neutral during test (not really important :) ) CM 332 EGR valve not opening not...

    Slow leak, but from where?!

Not again... I hope it's not the slave cylinder. I've had that done twice. Once with the master cylinder, clutch, flywheel, etc, and once when it failed on its own. I topped off the clutch fluid, but I have no way of knowing where it was before. So, I guess from here it's a waiting game, to...

    Slow leak, but from where?!

I'll do that as soon as it's light tomorrow. I hope that's not the prob, clutch still seems tight, but I've had the slave done like twice before, so who knows. Again, thanks, and I'll check it tomorrow when I get up.

    Slow leak, but from where?!

Hey all, I have a 1994 XLT, 4.0 ohv, 5spd, 111K mi on it. I recently crawled under it to change the t-case fluid, and saw that the tranny had some fluid coating it where it met up to the engine. So, I checked the fluid level in the tranny, because I read about the rubber plugs that go bad...

UPDATE: Missing/bucking -- something causing plug wear

Keep in mind I have no experience in this, but I was reading up on the 4.0 OHV engines, and they have problem with the #5 plug getting build op and oil on the threads. This is caused by a loose intake gasket, allowing a vacuum leak. That causes that particular plug to get more air, run lean, and...

Installing 6x9's as replacements of door speakers?

There's lots of posts about these different questions you have. There's a whole thread about where to put the tweeters. Problem with 6x9's is that they're so deep. I tried to put some in and you cant get the door panel back on.

    Thank you. That makes sense.

    Too high of impedance?

Ok, I've looked for the answer to this and can't find it: I know that series wiring will raise the impedance, while parallel setups will drop it. Drop it too low, and your amp/headunit will not work. What happens is you raise the impedance? It draws more amps doesn't it? Will this be bad for...

how do i know which is positive?

Weird Af, thank you. I feel dumb now, but thats how I learn. Jared, they have them on ebay for my 94, if your highmount's the same I guess they'd have them. Price varies, maybe $3-9?
