    Wicked Windsor's D44 Swap

Took 4 months but 1/2 that time was waiting for more $ to come in to finish up. Again with mods, I had to go the unbeaten path to see what works and what doesn't. Fortunately for me, this worked out well with no kinks I can think of. - Low Pinion Dana 44 from 2001 Dodge Ram shortened to use...

Is a Dana 35 axle assembly worth $ to anybody?

Recently, I posted to kijiji to try and sell my Dana 35 TTB assembly with 4.10 gears and I've only got 2 replies but nobody has followed through yet. Am I wasting my time with this? I'm not in any hurry. I figured someone would jump at it because it has Milemarker manual hubs and 4.10...

Are 33x12.5x15's on 15x7.5 rim doable?

I'm looking at using some F150 rims that are very plentiful around here used on the cheap for my rig. I'm converting to 5x5.5 lug pattern hense the need for different rims. I know that it's questionable to mount 33x12.5x15's on 7 inch rims and I have them mounted currently on 8 inch rims...

What do these three relays do?

I've unplugged these 3 relays to see what no longer works and everything seems to continue to work. Doors lock/unlock, windows, rear wiper, rear washer pump etc. I don't use the 4x4 shift module anymore due to my manual shift transfer case I put in so it is unplugged as well.

Want to relocate your gas tank?

To start off, I don't intend this to be a "how to" so I'm not liable for any misled info on a project like this undertaking. I was looking for a new project and something that had not been done. New and different was what I was looking for. Down the road, I wanted to rig up some sort of...

    Dodge D44 for SAS?

I can't find any info anywhere so far. Searching... Can a late model up to 2001 1500 front Dana 44 be used for a SAS? I know they have unit bearings, OK don't mind. The diff is on the drivers side=good. Can the passenger side be shortened using wagoneer axle shaft? They are easy to come by...

New bump stops for my SOA!

I used rear bump stops from a '97 GMC Sonoma. I cut them to a total of 4 1/2" long but could have left them full length. I flexed it today and have a big negative arch to the springs. Leaving them full length would have been perfect. I didn't account for the amount of squeeze they'd absorb...

Accident smeared guys plastic bumper on my paint

Ya, it's my Freestar van... How can I safely get this off? I can scrape it off with my finger nail but that will take forever. Should I just leave it? I don't want to make it any worse. His car was black obviously. I lost a little paint where you see light lines in about 3 spots.

Anybody remove overload spring and wheel it?

Today I flexed out my truck to see what it would look like after removing the overload springs. I got great flex but noticed the stuffed side spring had a negative arch to it. I don't have bump stops installed, yet. Is it safe to run off road like this, or am I going to bust a spring...

    Durham4x4 in Ontario

Hey all! Just putting the word out that we have a 4x4 club in Durham Region. We have members from Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Curtis Port Perry etc. I'm the only Explorer so far and would like to add some more Exploders to the pack of heeps! They are a great bunch of guys and don't care...

    Front bearings getting wet

I've had to change my front wheel bearings after every outing offroad (in deep water). They get crusty with water and eat at the bearings and races. I don't have the O-ring installed on the backside of the hubs though I've used lots of grease in that spot. The spindle suface is rusting slowly...

My Results of BW1356 in a First Gen

I don't intend this to be a "how-to" but if it helps anyone with their choices of transfer case/transmission builds, then mission accomplished. When my AOD died behind my 351 EFI windsor (3 rebuilds), I had enough. I was even tempted to put the 4.0 back in! I decided that I would cough...

AWD EX tranny output shaft fit 1354?

I'm wondering if the spline count on the '96 up 5.0 AWD tranny outpu shaft is the same as '91-'94 with 1354 transfer case. I currently have an Advance Adapter tailhousing that mates the 1354 to my AOD tranny. It came with a new output shaft to fit inside the 1354. I'm basically hoping that I...

AOD has only reverse and first gear

I went wheeling yesterday for a 7 hour trip in the woods. Everything seemed great until we rested at the end. After starting back up to leave, I realized I only had first gear. I limped to a gas station nearby and had it towed home. I did go through a pretty big water hole up to the top of...

Anyone try '96up full exhaust on '91-'94 5.0 Conversion?

Can the full exhaust fit under a '91 like mine with stock radius arm bracket assembly and 5.0 from a '96 up 5.0 Ex? I'm considering swapping over to FMS headers for Explorer and using stock '96 Ypipe and muffler assembly. My goal here is to have a non-custom, over the counter replacement...

Safe to drive with front axles removed?

I need to get my front diff to the shop to install my 4.10 gears, so I was wondering if I could drive with no axle shafts in the front for a few days while I wait for the gear install. Is the only factor that the inside of the spindle will be exposed to the elements during this time?

Lock the front or rear diff? I'm on the fence with this one

A couple months ago, I decided I was going to lock the front of my Dana 35 TTB. My new 4.10 gears will be coming next week so I have to make a decision. I still have auto hubs and do light offroading 95% highway DD. I'd like to really lock both front AND back. Any pros or cons to locking...

Will front gears from a gen2 fit a gen1 front diff?

I was thinking of taking a pumpkin from a gen2 front diff and installing them in my '91 front diff. Are they both reverse rotation gears? My guess is yes, but I'd like confirmation first. Also, will it be possible to take out a gen2 pumpkin with hand tools in a salvage yard? Just looking at a...

Installing Drop Brackets - What Rivets to Cut?

I need help clearing up exactly where the rivets and bolts are located on the I beam brackets. Instructions for the lift kits don't specify where they are located. I checked underneath my rig and can't tell for sure yet. I don't want to go grinding on a perfectly removable bolt thinking it...

Torn between lift Sizes to go with...

My '91 already has a 2" body lift. I want to run 33x12.50x15 tires. After running on a major trail for the first time (with 6 other JEEPS), I realized fast, that I need this to be done soon, and properly. I'm going to put on Warrior quick disconnect sway bar links at least on the front for...

    Skyjacker 2" lift and spacers/shackles?

Just read a thread where a guy said he installed 2" suspension lift AND coil spacers and used 3degree shims to align front end. If this is possible, this is the way I want to go. Right now, I have 2" body lift. I want to run 33x12.50x15 on 15x8, 3.75" backspacing rims I have. I was...

Pinion yoke from Jeep work on TTB D35?

I need a new yoke for my D35 TTB Dif. I'm looking at ones for Jeeps that convert to a U-Bolt design. Can I use one that is designed for a Jeep D35 Rear? I figured since I had to get a new one, I may as well upgrade it. I also wonder if a D30 from a Jeep front axle would work? I can't find any...
