I have a 5r55w transmission I am rebuilding and have two parts I don't know where they go. One is a large plastic ring and the other is a small rubber ring. I am new and not sure how to get the pictures from my phone onto here. Please help.

Thanks I couldn't find a picture that clear. I think 211 on the top row is the plastic piece but still not sure about the rubber ring. I think it goes somewhere around the valve body. Much appreciated though.

I have the tranny all in and goes fine in drive. I have no reverse though. Before I rebuilt it reverse was acting up and eventually just stopped working. I replaced all 3 bands and overdrive and intermediate servos as well. Not sure what's wrong with reverse. Transmission would only take about 9 quarts before it was full but everyone I talked to says 10 1/2 to 14 quarts. Any ideas. Also I can hear the band engage when I put it in gear but only slightly wants to move if I rev the engine. Seems like the servo isn't fully engaging

This video makes mention of both parts and their function (worth the 30 minutes)

When I did mine, it also did not take all the fluid. I took it for a drive and checked it again and was able to put in about 1 1/2 gts more.

There s a temp sensor that keeps the oil from going through the cooler until it gets warm. So at first if it is not warmed up it will not take all the fluid.

Are the bands adjusted? With the shift kit that I put in mine it was 1 1/2 turns out.

The transmission engages in all gears except reverse but I had reverse stop working right before I rebuilt it and there why I changed the reverse band. I also just put seafoam treatment in it and still nothing. The vehicle has been fully warmed up and driven around my house I even spun the rear end around in the road so the drive servos are working properly. Transmission shop told me that it's not likely that the reverse servo would have went bad. When I took it out to rebuild the tranny I took it apart but never removed the servo because when I pulled on it it didn't seem like it came out so I left it in. Still stumped.

How did you replace the reverse band without taking out the reverse servo? It is possible that the piece that goes between the servo and the band is out of place. I would have definitely have pulled the reverse servo.

Is there any difference between the the 4x4 and 4x2 trans as there is with the 4x4 and 4x2 aode\4r100 full size truck transes? The tail shafts are shorter on the 4x4 and longer on the 4x2.

I disassembled the entire transmission. The reverse servo housing came out I just never removed the servo from the housing. I rebuilt the tranny because the overdrive band and servo broke. Reverse was having problems engaging too. At first it wouldn't engage right away but revving up the engine would help and shortly after it just wouldn't engaged at all. Now when it's in reverse it will roll like neutral. All gears work including neutral. 1st 2nd 3rd drive park all fine. And by the way it's 2wd not that it matters

If 1st thru 5th function then I suspect the reverse band is not working. Did you remove the extension housing? My manual states that the reverse band actuating lever must fit into the notches in the band. It looks like the extension housing must be removed to insert the lever into the band notches.

The reverse engagement problems you had before rebuilding may have been due to a worn reverse servo. There's a fluid pressure regulator valve spring that can become weak or break. There's also a servo piston O ring and seal that may need replacement.

Theband is seated in to the notches. I am going through have the check the servo seal and o ring.the spring armed fine though definitely not broke and has lots of force
