Are these good to lift with? I've read they're one of the stiffest, is that correct? Is the lift dependent on the bars or the bolts?

Is it good or bad to have a 1F SPR Setting?

It's dependent on how much you crank the bars or length of the bolts. You can get the same amount of lift with any torsion bar. The stiffness of the bar is going to effect the ride quality more than just the TT itself. Doing the TT with the bars you have now will make the ride stiffer/bouncier, so the bars rated stiffer to begin with will make it even worse, IMO.

Uh oh...

well uh.. Damn...

Nope, the 1 rated bars came with it. How bad is the ride I keep reading about?

It's not at bad as it sounds and can be 'controlled' with the right shocks. The only way I can describe a truck with a TT is that it's bouncy.

On my old 2WD Toyotoa truck I did a TT. Granted I probably did it more than I should have, but while driving on the hwy the front tires would come off the ground. This is because when the suspension is compressed there is so much load on the bars that the wheels want to travel down as quick as possible. I did end up lowering it a little because that was obviously dangerous to drive around like that.

Does that make sense?

Uh, No.... Your front tires came Off the road?!
As for an explorer, bouncy? I thought it gets really rough. Like if you hit a bump.. You're definitely going to feel it.

Would new shocks fix this? Or is this what I have to accept with a TT? Does the front end have shocks like the back or is it more of a complicated suspension system? I don't know wtf I'm talking about... There's squeaking from the front though.

Is shock replacement easy for the front end?

Is there a picture explaining the whole torsion system?
Hell, is there a place online I can get pictures for anything on the explorer showing the design? Kind of like the bodyshop program for estimates, it gives pictures like model instructions.

I've read that completely. I do plenty of searching on this site. (on a side note, I think the 15 seconds between searches should be changed, lol) I mean like a more in-depth look at it, what exactly do those bolts adjust, yea.. the torsion bars.. but how? n what exactly do the torsion bars go to?.. I'd go outside n take a look for myself no problem.. but.. I live in alaska and well.. id rather not.. *i wish i had a garage..*

The attach to the lower control arms. When you tighten the bolts it twists the bar and moves the outside of the conrol arm down.

This pic shows the effect of the bar when you hit a bump. Now just imagine you twist the bar the other way, the tire will go down.

Where'd you get that?.. Those pictures are quite helpful.

*sigh*

I wish I could find explorer specific diagrams and pictures.
