Hey all, my local shop diagnosed that it was the ignition switch causing my starting problems so here is what they did- but it didn't fix the problem

b1352 Ignition key 1.00 0.00
circuit error
colt
Ignition Switch: ERIS 1.00 0.00
Ignition Switch : US274T 1.00 88.30
R&R IGNITION SWICH

Which is basically replacing the ignition switch but he also said he could be the cylindrical thing that needs to be replaced too. So now I'm stuck without money and the same problem. But I can do it myself ... except that I can't find any videos on it but I need to do the work myself I think because I am super poor right now. How hard is it to replace and do I need to take off the steering wheel? I don't even know the part name but it's a cylindrical casing up under the steering wheel something to do with ignition switch. ( I will know the part name soon sorry

I'm very handy- have all the tools and done lots of repairs before. and can probably do it, but the problem is I can't find a video or guide anywhere. Do i need to get my year model guide book? Any help wanted thanks so much

If it is the part the key goes in, it's the ignition lock cylinder

That part pushes a rod into the electrical ignition switch, deeper inside the column

If you are referring to the lock cylinder, jump to post 10

That is not a picture of a 97 steering column

You do not need to pull the steering wheel no

Key lock and tumbler and ignition switch two different things

Yes you can replace either of them yourself
Your 97 should be a non chip key (no pats security) which helps you a great deal!
