My 98 Explorer alarm goes off when attempting to jump start. It won't stop. How do I stop it?

I only have one key, no fob. Now I've charged the battery but as soon as I hook it up the alarm sounds. I've tried hooking it up with the key on, then with it off, and also with no key in the ignition, all to no avail. This was my son's car for several years and he didn't even know that it had an alarm. I changed the battery recently with no problem. It went dead for some reason yesterday and I tried to jump it but it set off the alarm. I just recharged it overnight, but it still goes off..

I found the solution. I pulled the horn fuse (#10) for the neighbors sake, then got in and locked and unlocked the door with the lock/unlock switch/button on the door armrest. That reset it. All good! Thanks.

Usually just starting a PATS keyed car will turn off the factory alarm.

Otherwise, close all the doors then use the key to unlock the front passenger side door twice (first turn will unlock the door, second turn will power unlock all doors and turn off alarm). Doing the opposite, locking twice, will power lock all doors and arm the alarm.

If you have a keypad on the door: get the doorcode off of the RAP module (cream colored plastic box with multiple wire bundles located in the left rear jack compartment). Enter the code will unarm and unlock the doors.

EDIT *** saw you found a solution. BTW you can easily add a key fob for future use to avoid this headache
