Hello, I have a 99 Mountaineer and the door ajar light stays lit. The front and read doors chime when opened. The rear lift gate will not open due to an issue with the hinges.

I need to locate the wire that goes from the back lift gate door ajar switches to somewhere accessible up front. All that I have been able to fine is the wire goes to connector C280 pin 4. If it is burred under the dash where else can i locate the wire.

Thanks

Could it be the liftgate glass switch? Does the glass open and close?
Wiring for the rear latches goes up toward headliner from inside hatch.
Moving thread to stock section. Someone might have pictures which side door threshold the wiring is tucked under

Usually it is the drivers door master switch
Or
The rear hatch glass open switch

Cleaning the contacts in the switches usually does the trick
I would check all wiring after cleaning those two switches and see if it’s fixed

The drivers master switch is built into the door Latch mechanism and is accessed through the door panel

Thanks for the help. It was indeed the drivers side door. I soaked the lock assembly with WD40, opened and closed the door multiple times. After the third round of spray and open/close the door, it is now fixed.

I overlooked that it did not chime opening the drivers door. Cool beans!

If it comes back you can remove the door panel and in about 5 seconds have that switch in your hands. It has a single wire going to it and it un twists from the lock assembly. You can then clean it and then re install
