Hello. I would like to get your guys feedback on this.
I installed a 94 4.0L into my 88 BII. So far I have the BBK TB, a force fed airbox with K&N drop in, an electric fan, JBA headers, and plugs and wires. I am using my old 2.9L exhaust. It is the stock cat (200K miles still flows good) and a 2.25" pipe with 2.5" dynomax single I/O muffler.
Nobody makes a 4.0L cat back kit for my wheelbase. Which is a good thing I think because I have heard all the cat backs for the 4.0L are 2.25"?????? is that right?
Ok so heres my questions:
1. I talked to a guy who has a 95 Explorer 4.0L, he siad he put a 3" Exhaust on it and it really opened it up. Now I know that a 3" is way too much for a 4.0L. Right? I mean I would lose all my low end.
2. So whats the best size for a 4x4, I do a lot of towing and 4x4ing so I want to retain all the low end I can. 2.75" or 2.5"????
I plan to open up the intake even more with a full ram air setup and 77mm MAS, then the chip, injectors, fuel pump, DIS, the whole nine yards.
I will be using a full stainless dynomax single I/O muffler with a short pipe leading out the passenger side just in front of the rear tire. Any feedback is greatly appriciated.
Right now I'm thinking 2.5" unless I hear otherwise....
