looks great man, props. how much did all that cost you? do you think its better to replace the leafs if you wanna less agressive lift cuz that looks bigger than 3 inches. i just bought some new 30s and dont wanna change em out if the lift is to big for the tires. thanks.
I can't remember exactly how much it cost, but I think it was $100 or around that figure for the body lift. Not sure what you mean by less aggressive? I replaced my leafs to get a 40mm lift and cause they are a lot better than the OEM. You don't need those crap auto levelling shocks with a decent set of springs. I was quite happy with the original lift. It had enough ground clearance except that the tyres would hit the splash guards, so I then installed the bodylift. If you're sticking with 30's, don't bother with the body lift.
The AUTO floor shifter of the AUS / UK model is on the floor and the US model is on the steering column. Therefor there is very little ever mentioned about the auto floor shifter on the AUS / UK model. I am about to install a 3 inch PA883 on a 1998 AUS model with the AUTO floor shifter and was wondering if you had noticed anything getting tight or stretched in your 2 inch lift.??
Chris, I don't think you'll have a problem with the shifter, being that it still uses a cable. It's not like aussie cars that are directly connected to the gearbox. You may have trouble with the radiator shroud unless you cut it to go around the upper radiator hose. Apart from that, I can't remember any other problems.
Mate , I see your truck with the lift and it looks great ,that's what I've been looking for . I have ome (old man emu ) hd springs and shocks with a 65mm rear lift and a 45 mm lift at the torsion bars but Ive found my coopers are scrapping holes under the guards and that is with the standard size tyres .I need to lift the body because I want to put at least 265 /75/16 on her for my next trip .Ive seen the kits your'e talking about on e bay for about 120.00 us then they want another 100.00 in po and handling just to get them here .Oh! yes I've also put poly air bags to help with the load .and yes I'd get rid of the standard running boards and put something else on more fitting a excellent off roader Cheers Mate thats been a very helpful thread
Ok, its 1030.. and ive been working on it since 7am. Ive only removed front and rear bumper bars and rear tow bar Im looking now for the stuff to disconnect, but cant find the three brake lines talked about on the passenger side shock tower
Any help would be great If anyone can give breif description on how to spot them
Mate ,Ive just bought a 792x2 kit and I've been checking my 9/99xlt for all the tricks to look for I've found some but I'm looking for those brake lines as well But I believe you have to take the wheel well guard out to see them My abs is on the LHS behind the main cranking battery so I'll have to follow those lines because things are pretty crowded in there and also it will be a good opportunity to put on my ported manifolds .I have one worry though are my old man emu shocks going to be long enough as they were fitted when I did the 65mm rear lift and a 45mm front ? and it will be good to compare notes as we go
Adam, how did you with the rear tow bar get around the horizontal bolt ,its the one not on the chassis but on the cross member .I can see how you got 25mm but to get the full 50mm could you extend the chassis with a 1/2" x 4" plate steel then raise it 50mm or what it would take to allow you to use the horizontal hole and put a 50mm x 1/2" plate steel to connect the bumper and the cross member .Yes my shocks are ok as theyre not connected to the body but to follow the 3 brake lines I took the front left wheel cover out and bingo no problems .I'm not to keen to cut the front and raise it so I'll make a bracket to fit using 3" x5/8" plate that way I can do a return to oe if I have to .Yes I know this is an old thread but the information has been a Godsend
Foxy, sorry for not replying sooner. I have moved house a couple of months ago and I only just got broadband connected. I'm not sure what you mean in your question. If you can re-phrase the question I might be able to remember. The trouble is (apologies to all the Explorer fans out there) I have defected to a 100 Series Landcruiser. I needed something bigger and I wanted a diesel for remote outback touring. Feel free to ask questions and I'll try and help if I can.
yes that would be them...in the most amzing series ive ever fricken seen...lost 3 in a row...won 4 in a row. but im sure you knew that just rubbing it in to any yankee fans...
