Completed Project 2000 Sport Long term project vehicle

After almost 13 years of enjoyable “tinkering” with my Sport, I decided it was time to find it a new home. I’m now 75 years old and my arthritis in my knees makes it difficult to perform automotive maintenance/modifications. Also, my wife’s arthritis requires her to utilize a rollator or walker. Soon, I probably will have to build a ramp in the garage for her to transition between the garage floor and the house first floor. There will only be room for one automobile in the garage - our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I will keep my 2003 Centennial outside as a backup vehicle. I’ve become involved in promoting election reforms such as ranked choice voting. Such activities seem more appropriate for someone my age and with my caregiver duties. However, I continue offering Explorer advice to other Forum members.

The new owner of my Sport seems enthusiastic about maintaining it. He has a son who is graduating from high school this year. Maintaining my Sport should be a good father/son project. I am optimistic my Sport may survive another decade.

Thank you for whatever you can do to improve voting procedures etc. Take care and I hope you and your wife can continue to enjoy quality time together.

I just came across this. Sad to hear that you are letting go of your Sport, but I can definitely understand. I live just outside of Sun City West, AZ and have become friends with many in their hot rod community. You have to be at least 55 to live in their community, but the majority of folks I know are in their 70s and early 80s.

I just hit 60 and it's like seeing my future... While they still enjoy driving their hot rods to car shows most are no longer working on their cars much anymore. As the youngster in the crowd I have been helping a few of them with all sorts of projects on some very cool cars.

This '40 Ford was just over here a few days ago.

Best of luck with your new endeavors.
