I went to go get a manual but they could only order one for me & trying to replace the injectors tomorrow & had a couple questions. Does the upper intake manifold have to come off or is there a trick? If I do need to take stuff off what all gaskets should I go buy? Any recommendations would be helpful as I want to do this as easily as possible,in bad pain waiting on double spinal fusion surgery & don't have the cash to pay to get them installed right now. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes it has to come off, it's a pain in the ass. You should buy an intake manifold gasket set, the gasket for the throttle body elbow will probably come off in pieces, and I'm sure it's recommended to change the gasket between the upper and lower.

Why do you need injectors?

Ok, first, being of sound mind and bad spine also I strongly suggest you reconsider this. Yes the upper need to be removed.

You need a good friend to help. There are a few bolts which will almost be impossible to remove with a healthy back.

The egr will need to be separated somewhere, this is the main worry. Second is the position you will be in while finally setting the upper intake. It takes a good steady hand to not tear the gasket, all that weight with arms stretched out has me worried for you.

^ This.

It would suck to replace your injectors just to find out they weren't the problem. How is your Explorer acting to lead you to believe it's the injectors?

Getting stumble, hesitation, misfire with load at low RPM & horrible MPG. Changed out the plugs, wires, put on MSD coil packs,O2 sensors & K&N filter, truck has 225K miles on it so figured it was due, was going to do the injectors & fuel filter. I got the intake manifold gasket & EGR gasket ordered for it,was going to go ahead & clean MAF & throttle body while I was at it trying to keep it running as good as I can. We're doing a bunch of highway driving & between kids wrestling & my surgeon which is a 3 hour trip each way. I ended up having to work on the oldest kids car so I put it off for a few days, yesterday he blew a tranny cooler line from bent core support rubbing against it where he hydroplaned into a gravel mound & found busted motor mount which I get to do today, damn Mopar LOL, he thinks that little Neon is a tank which it is far from. The check engine light comes on when it starts misfiring bad & get a code that I think was #7 misfire if I remember correctly. I've been putting it off for quiet awhile now as I had a lower back surgery & then neck spinal fusion, I go in for a double spinal fusion on lower back April 14th & then the vertebrae of my neck shaved down after that once I heal, so I was trying to get the truck up to par before I am bed bound again.Been out of work since last April so the plans of getting her a newer Escape or Fusion have been put on the back burner until I can get back to work which is quite awhile off. This Exploder is the best one I have had, #3 for me & a Ford man all the way, granddad was a plant supervisor years ago & I used to get them at cost but no more Z plan for us unfortunately.

Unplug the MAF and see how it runs.

Please go have the codes scanned again. Write the actual codes down on a piece of paper, ignore the description. They will help troubleshoot this issue.

For example, a misfire for cyl 7 would be displayed as P0307

Sorry it took so long to reply, damn NORO virus came home with one of the kids & found out the hard way I'm allergic to morphine. OK I unplugged the MAF,at first it did good, got to the end of the road 1 mile away & when I tried to take off from stop sign it started misfiring horrible, worst it has ever done, plugged it back up & stopped misfiring that bad. I got some MAF cleaner today but snow storm came in before I could get to it. Going to try to get codes read tomorrow, the one Autozone that is close to the house didn't have a working reader. I am pretty good with dealing with pain to get something done that needs to be as I have been cutting down trees & splitting firewood all winter, glad spring is on the way, I do have kids & neighbor that can help lift for me if it comes to it.
