2001 5.0 explorer air filter

Hi,

do any of you guys have recomendations for where to get a new induction kit for a 2001 5.0L explorer. I looked at a few brands (K&N, AEP etc) but can find and that do a version for the V8 model.

i have tried MAC performance before but it has been 4 months and waiting so i gave up with them.

any help would be much appreciated

Sadly, it seems like MAC has stopped producing them for the 5.0. About the only commercial product still out there is Airmax.

Try making your own. Many have before you. You'll save a lot of $$$ in the process and the performance of these kits are all the same. Search around EF's past threads. You'll find many threads on the subject.

Last I checked Explorer Express still had some of the MAC intakes on hand.

Yeah, and Explorer Express also carries their airdams, hood scoops, grilles etc....NOT.

Explorer Express doesn't carry most of the stuff they list on their site and hasn't for years. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :

It might be worth calling them and seeing if they have one in stock I would also try www.hensonperformance.com (site vendor) and see if he has any in stock. But if you can't find someone that actually has one in stock than get the AirMac or build your own. another member ordered the mac 2weeks ago and they charged him for it but he hasn't heard anything from them since so I would be careful dealing with them in the future.

I ordered one from MAC on July 20th. Since I heard they weren't making them anymore from guys on the forums, I decided to call them and ask them myself. They said that they aren't in production anymore, BUT that they make them on demand. They said that the one that I ordered would be produced by the end of July, and then be ready to ship by the 8th of August.
However, I'm really anxious about getting it, so I think I'm going to call them on Monday just to make sure that everything is still on track.

It's nice to have this information confirmed. I guess if people still need 5.0 intakes from MAC, they'll just have to be patient and wait for them. That being said, they're worth the wait, IMHO.
