So, you need a foam 351W block. I wonder if I can find a used one?

Heck yes for el cheap

Ordered some upper control arms, lower ball joints, and brake pads for this project

I think I’ll skip right past the triton engines :) early cam phasers yuck
Saw the dude on here stuff a 7.3 Powerstroke into a gen iii explorer
Just because it fits doesn’t mean you should hhahahaa

So the stock 1996-2001 Explorer 5.0 plates won't work? I'm thinking about my 1999 2wd 3.0 Ranger donor chassis for the 1954 F100 body.
If that is the case, I'll design into the new motor plates the .85" that my 5.0 (#2) needs to go forward to get it off of the F100 firewall.
How is the oil pan clearance looking? I have a '68 to '77 Bronco 302 pan if I need it...
Following!

Funny you say that
Not sure if the factory plates will work yet
Why? Because I only had one side lying around the shop when he was mocking this up. We spent some time looking for them? And then an hour searching the ship hardware store trying to find the 4 bolts needed to mount the plates we did have.
I have v6 and v8 stuff alllll over the shop right now

The next day I found the two factory plates, with bolts… sitting in the drivers floorboard lol

I have a set of these “302 into ttb” truck $30 eBay plates in the shop. So we tried them in this rwd
I’m still not sure the crankshaft is over to the drivers far enough…
We will find out soon when I have more time to mess with it and actually start measuring.

Next step is to get our donor engine
We are going to pull a good running v8 explorer around front of the shop and they are going to tear it apart… that will be our engine, accessories, pcm, wiring, etc for this green 01

I might end up notching and boxing the 2wd Ranger cross member to use the early Bronco 302 pan and save the special 4wd Explorer oil pan. I wish I was up to the point of putting the 5.0 into the Ranger. The '99 3.0 has drive-ability issues that I want to totally cure before installing in the Aerostar. It's next to impossible to work on a engine installed in the Aerostar body.
Back to yours, following and looking forward to what happens with the Explorer 5.0 motor plates.:sawzall:
