Hi All, I have a farm and only use my Fords, have worked on them alot by teaching myself but this has me lost. My best friend gave me the truck because of my health and really need help with this one.
Since I had it there was always problems pumping gas, I thought the gas hose was small or something but one night it would crank and start but would not idle. I immediately got a check engine light and gas cap light replace the gas cap light and has several codes I had to have the truck towed to a local garage to where they rest the idle, they told me my computer PCM was bad ordered it took it to the Ford dealership to have it installed to my truck they told me my old PCM was working just fine. She immediately was burning gas more and she would have a hard time idling then would die in the middle of driving. I replaced the idle air control valve the EVAP emerged system purge valve circuit the vent control and put on a new mass flow sensor brand new battery new spark plugs the Etc electronic throttle control the throttle position sensor put a new radiator in it fuel filter and heater control valve brand new gas cap brand new shut off sensor switch and still no change. Fuel pump is getting power but no gas to engine?Check the Emissions System the EGR everything is good, now she will crank but won't start. The codes I'm still getting is P0443 and P0446 can anyone PLEASE HELP! Thanks

Have you put a fuel pressure gauge to check how much pressure you have? Is the fuel filter clogged? How do you know that you are not getting fuel to the engine?

Welcome to the site.

04 sohc should have a fuel pressure test port on the back of the passenger side fuel rail… really crappy Location but it is there
Spec is 64 psi +/-

You have an issue with the evap system which can cause pressure in the tank which can make it hard to fill and cause gas cap codes, also increases strain on the fuel pump

Basically there are two electronic valves that open and close to allow fuel tank vapors to be burned by the engine. The canister vent solenoid is back by the charcoal canister above your spare tire
The canister purge solenoid is underneath your battery tray in the engine compartment.. these plastic lines and fittings often get brittle and break. You need to inspect the entire evap system from tank to engine bay and I bet you find a problem

The codes 443 and 446 are telling the purge valve has quit working or takin g to the computer…. The wires maybe cut or chewed

Thank you that helps! I also check my filter and it was bad cleaned it up and tried it and my truck started but pushed the fuel filter off. For reason this truck don't have the safety clips like I've seen in videos, could too much pressure be what is pushing my fuel filter off?

no the fuel pressure should not push the connection off. Either it wasnt fully installed, or the retaining clip for that fuel line does not work.

The 04 trac uses a 3 line filter
It should never never never come loose

Excess fuel is returned to the tank right there from the filter… crazy setup I’ve gotten used to

You may need to repair the fuel lines and fittings

You can’t clean a fuel filter??? just replace it
