2005 1 ton SAS sport trac thread

I am gonna start keeping my eye out for a 5.0 explorer but its a long shot up here.... If anyone out is in Michigan and sees one let me know, that is about as far as i will go

96-01 explorer and mountaineer
96-97 are GT40 heads and intakes, internal EGR (no egr pipe on pass exhaust manifold)
97+ are gt40 heads and intakes with external EGR (egr pipe on manifold)
96-97.5 no PATS security/ chip key in the PCM
99-01 are returnless fuel, PATs security key
98-01 have cast exhaust manifolds (far superior to the earlier welded manifolds)
98-01 is easiest to adapt to your sport trac
also 98+ 4r70w has a few internal upgrades that make them more desirable

You can find them, they are out there
Might consider checking COpart online auctions I have had great luck locating 5.0 donors at Co part, sometimes they sneak by with nobody bidding on them can be had for hundreds
My stepson runs a wanted add on Craigslist and facebook,, you would not believe the deals that fall into his lap over the years

good luck! we are here to help!!!!!!

How do you deal with emissions? , Doesn't the PCM have to match the VIN to pass? Maybe in NY, I'm not sure how it works.
