2006 stereo fit a 2004?

I'm at Goodwill and they have a 2din oe Explorer stereo dated Sept 05. It's the 4th gen Explorer style. At least a 2006.

Anyone know if it will plug and play in a 2004 model?

Turns out the stereo is for an 06 or so F150. Has the connection for a sub like my 04 Explorer has. Anyone know what the center plug is used for? The aftermarket harness connectors omit this plug from what I can tell.

I had a 94 explorer with the jbl system & I bypassed every ounce of factory wiring for that thing to save headache. With an afyermarket deck, of course. It might be for that. You don't know what the 04 harness looks like? Or you already know it's not the same? For now I would like to use a newer ford plug & play receiver with the line in option for my music. So I'm curious what you figure out.
