depends on your axle ratio

im running a 8.8 wiht a 3.55 gear in it, i do have 31's on it, but thats not too big, i know the trans is in order, the whole driveline just had 10 grand worth of work done to it, what is your rear, and do you have an idea of what you run a 60-65 mph?

Kool thanks!!! I just had an Very large ammount of work done for free and i dont wnat the enigne to go, that wouldn't be free, lol!!!

THANKS AGAIN MAN!!

My '94 with 31's and 3.73's runs at 2100RPM@65, 2300@70

If you have 3.55 and 31's I would expect even lower rpm's than me. Are you sure your torque converter is locking up?

My 93 w/ the A4LD and 3.08 rear gear runs about 1500 rpm at 55 mph and just a hair under 2000 rpm at 70 rpm in overdrive. In 3rd gear, I know that it runs just under 2500 at 65 rpm. This is with the stock sized 235/35 R15 tires. No work has been done to the drivetrain.

Hope this helps

Im almost 100% sure my tourque converter is locking up, i just had it rebuilt, as for the engine, fo you guys runnning lower rpms, do you have stock exhaust? i dont, i have a very open exhaust that has caused me to loose alot of my bottom end.

Do you think this could be the cause of it?

I have a 2.25" catback. Diameter of exhaust shouldn't have anything to do with rpm if your TC is locked up, in fact, it shouldn't have anything to do with rpm period. The TC will as will gears and tires sizes.

2500 seems high to me. Dreamr is running 33"MTR's with 4.56 gears and those are the kinds on rpm's he gets. By the charts, he should effectively be stock.

Yea, when i had a stockl exhaust i had plenty of bottom end and rarley went above 2000 when normally driving, now i have a 2.5 with a super 40 and no cats, its straight pipe! But now i rev to over 3000 under normal driving, but my engine is much quicker and mor epowerful!!!! It seems as if i have lost some bottom end, but gained top end!

I agree with Albino, your T/C is not locking. Try a reset- disconnect battery for 30 minutes, then go re-check the engine speed. With 3.73 gearing in my 98 I run 2200-2300 rpms at 70.
Around 2750 with no t/c lockup at 70 mph

If you converter is locking up your motor being tired/going out will not change the rpms that you see at 65mph.

If the converter wasn't locking that would make your rpms higher. And, if the converter wasn't locking up a tired engine then would change the rpms you would see at a certain speed.

3.73 and I do 1900-2000 at 65

I run 2000 at 65 MPH. I would look at your overdrive unit.

i have 3.27 which sucks but my truck runs 1500 rpms at 65
or did until my tach broke

also you can tell the tc is locked becase i think it fells like a 5th gear

i checked on my way home today 1900rpms at 65mph with a 3.55 with 31x10.5's

If you have bigger tires your not really going 65.
I have 3.27's with a corrected speedo for 31's. I run 1900-2000RPM(around there) at 65. 2300rpm at 75, & 1500rpm at 55.
I still can only get 15mpg all HW driving.

with the auto and 3.73's about 2400-2500 RPM if i remeber correctly
