I have a 1998 Ford Explorer 2WD with "E" and it has a locked motor. I have found a 1998 same VIN "E" and want to put it into my 2WD frame. I know that the difference in engines mainly is the balancer for the 4WD...
Here is my question...is there anyone out there that has put the 4wd engine into the 2wd?
Does it bolt right up (I'm thinking yes). but...
What has to be changed...flywheels, intakes, fuel lines....harness.....
I would like to get some information from experiences people who have information that could keep me from making a huge mistake here. I am skilled at 54 with changes engines/trans since 20yr old...so work and experience is not a problem but don't want to open up a can of worms if I don't have to.

Any advice/knowledge would be greatly appreciated as I prepare to drive in the next couple of days from Augusta, GA to SC (Greenwood) to get this motor. Tks again!
