2wd to 4wd conversion question

I am lookin to change my 96 explorer xlt to 4wd. I have found a parts 4wd explorer that is a 98. The only thing wrong with it is it has no motor. The owner says it was the 4.0l sohc engine. Would I be able to get all of the parts I need off of this car?

your better off finding a donor the same year as yours. there was major electronic changes for 98 that may not be compatible for your truck.

Alright thanks. I think I'm just gonna put a new engine in the 98. The local pull a part only charges 170 for a 6 Cyl engine and they have 4 98's on the lot.
