How hard would it be to convert my 2WD xploder sport to 4wd? I read the article on the site and it seemed like getting the right parts was the hardest part.
How much would it cost to get a mechanic to do it for me if I gave him all the parts?

Your choice of course, but I really don't understand this approach. Why not just sell yours and buy a 4WD? There are tons of nice ones out there, especially with the way gas is.

This would be a very easy swap once you have the parts gathered.

- 4WD tranny from the same year Explorer
- Manual shift 1354 transfer case
- Front and rear driveshafts
- Front differential
- Half shafts, control arms, knuckles, etc.

I would just remove the upper and lower control arms from the donor vehicle, pull the half shafts out, remove the front differential. Then install on your Explorer in reverse order. If you had all the parts this would be a one-day project.
