3" Body Lift Installation Cost

Hello guys,

Long story short, I am no mechanic, nor do I have the tools to even attempt a 3" body lift myself, and what is keeping me from going that extra step, those bigger tires is the body lift.

Anyone know if I brought it to a mechanic how much would they roughly charge me for a body lift? Or better yet how long would it take if a garage did it?

search the part number on google and you will find a low price. I just did my body lift in about 12 hours completly by myself. But i have the all the tool you need. and a clean place to work on it.

Your probably looking at maybe 3-5 hours if they don't follow the instructions word for word.. If they follow the instructions exactly as instructed, your looking at a full day atleast maybe more.

When we did it on my old 97, it took roughly 3-5 hours or so but we didn't do everything word for word.

What methods to lift did you guys use?

Some have used a 2 post lift but if you don't have one a good floor jack and some wood blocks will do. Do one side at a time when doing it that way.

LOL sorry I meant parts I just don't want to do a TT and shackles, I'm looking to lift with a method other than what seems like a way around doing it right.

Here is what my shop told me...

"All installations are performed on a time and materials basis. We have been selling and installing Performance Accessories body lifts for years. MOST of the kits are very comprehensive and require 10-12 hours to FULLY and PROPERLY install. Our project labor rate is 75/hour."

I remember doing the 853 lift kit minus the bumper brackets up in NJ the night before the Englishtown Car & Truck Show or was it after.. To be honest I can't remember. But I do remember doing it in one night, I know we started after the sun went down and was done before the sun rose..

It's going to depend on your previous experience if any. If its your first time, of course you should take your time and do it step by step using the instructions.

When I did mine, it was my first time and it was only me and my wife. I took my time. Plus the OEM body bolts can sometimes be a real pita to get them undone. Many of my body bushings are deteriorating badly now. I think this is due to the twisting they endured while trying to get the body bolts undone. I think Ford has a bad design in the way the body bolts and bushings are done. If you can you might want to somehow tack weld that bottom flange that the body bolt goes into so that it doesn't move on you while you try to get the bolt off.

On the Sport Trac's the other thing to watch out for is that after the body lift the A/C line that goes underneath the front of the engine comes really close to the harmonic balancer.
