Recentyl bought 98 explorer sport, 2dr, 4wd, 5 speed. Looking to install a body lift, probably 3''. I picked up 4 tires and rims, 33's bf goorichs, and have a stock explorer. I want to install the lift so i can fit them, and just so i can have the body lift. Ive researched it awhile ago, and actually had a website with step by step instructions and pictures of what modifications actually needed to be done to make the ranger lift fit the explorer, yet i lost the website so im disappionted because now i forget everything it said and have no idea what to do once i order my lift. Is it a complicated process? I dont have many mechanical skills, but some understanding of them at least, i will probably be getting it done by a local mechanic or someone i know that has a garage and such. I am seeking the small things i will need to change like brakeline extentions? steering? welding? drilling? brackets? bumbers?...i remember all these thigns from the other site i had at once, i was jsut wondering if someone knew of a site like that so i can use it as a reference while installing it, or if anyone here has enough knowledge about them and could hook me up with some information on what exactly to do once i get it, because i dont want to purchase it if i dont know how to rig it on, seems reasonable ehhna? So if someone or anyone has anythign to help, related or not related to what i asked here , info is well appriciated. Oh and i also know, after the 3'' it might still not fit the tires from what i read here, in that case, what would be the next best thing to do to get them to fit, leafs, tt? (dono waht it is but seem alot of it here) or the shackles....whoever understands what where im coming from please reply =) thanks

what rim size and offset did you get? you are going to rub 33's with only a 3 inch body lift.

OK having done 2 of exactly what you want to do i can give you some hints. First the bumpers. The bumper brakets are more or less useless. You can use the front brackets on the rear bumper by pounding them flat and cutting them down. The fromt brackets will need to be fabbed. The steering extension MAY have to be ground down slightly to fit. Do not grind too much though. PM "PAExplorer" he probably still has the link. If you get stuck or have questions PM me.

ur going to prob want to run 15x8 rims with 3.75 backspacing, also since u'll prob rub, u need to order warrior shackles war-153, from desertrat.com or 4wheelparts.com and also do the TT=torsion twist, look under useful threads and there will be detailed instructions on how to do both of these installs, that can be done with just a few tools and prob yourself and another set of hands for the shackles, i have my shackles,AAL(add-a-leaf), and TT done, and 31s and i'm about to put on my 3" PA-883 body lift so that i can fit 33s, good luck

ask questions, but also do searches with different word combinations, helps a lot and can learn a TON!, take care
