31" Spare Tire? Stock Location?

Only thread I found on this exact subject was from 01 and was closed. I have a .. I think it's a locktite tow hitch.. It's one of those hidden ones.. (I guess?) Will a 31" fit in the stock location on a 98 XLT?

Even with the hitch, do you know which one I'm talking about? The stock tire size is kind of a pain to fit in there, but I suspect this to be because as I'm cranking it up.. it rocks around and gets caught on things on its way up..

Well, there are so many variants on hitches, its hard to say which one. If need be, get a friend to crank the handle while you guide the tire up. Or get another hitch if need be.

I MIGHT just take the hitch off completely and sell it, and find an alternative for a tow spot thing incase I get stuck again. =P

I have an aftermarket hitch (Drawtite I think) on my X, and I couldn't get the stock spare to go up without cutting away a 'shield' of sorts that protects the spare from the sway bar.
