I have a '00 Explorer with the 4.0 OHV. I pulled the rocker shafts. Do I need to replace the rocker shaft bolts? They appear to be torque to yield bolts. If so any advice on where to get the bolts? I checked the Ford web site and it lists the bolts as part number 6A527. However they are not available.

Thanks,

Jim

No

They are low torque bolts....I wouldn't replace them

Nope, no need to replace them. When reinstalling pay CLOSE attention to the torque specs!

Those bolts will strip the head quite easily.. ask me how I know :D

what is the torque on the rocker arm bolts and whats the proper way to torque them? cause i think i read some where that you rotate the motor to where both valves are closed before to torque the bolt all the way down?
