Im getting ready for the '92 Ex 4.0L swap into my 89 B2 and wanted to make sure of one thing before i proceed. I want to keep my manual tranny that is behind my 2.9L. The Ex has an auto tranny in it, now my question is that as far as wiring goes, how difficult will it be to keep the manual there? Will the Ex ECU work properly with this tranny or should i just keep the auto in there? Should i look into getting a wiring harness from an manual Explorer or just the ECU?

Wiring is the only part holding me back for moving on with the swap. I appreciate any info on how to make this work, thanks.

I think the ECU might work as the A4LD is not computer controlled tranny. As for wiring, I am not sure you will need to figure out the neutral start switch.
