Next up... addressing the CV boot that is slinging grease....
It got everywhere... it even made it on to the door...
From these 2 pics it appears to be coming from a pinhole at the top just below the clamp.
I called several shops to see who could do this locally. The first 3 said they either didnt do this repair or they only do OEM.
Then I found a shop that said they could do it, even after I explained that it is a highly modified 4WD truck.... only to have them call the next day an say... "we will NOT be replacing the boot, the technician says because of the modifications and the extreme angle of the axle that they believe it will tear the new boot."
After I picked the truck up I called 3 offroad an 4WD shops who also said they wont do the repair because they arent familiar with the kit, an one said they only deal with solid axles.
Then I got on the phone an tried to talk to True Travel Dynamics, the manufacturer of the kit.
No one answers their phone
...
I emailed them to inquire if this falls under their lifetime warranty an also to see about buying a spare set of axles... no response yet.
Next I called RCV, the ones who make the axles for the kit. They answer their phone!!!
I spoke with Josh who was great. Josh looked to see if they could sell a complete axle but it turns out TTD buys the parts an assembles them in house so that was not an option. He then looked at pictures I sent an did some digging to find the boot used was most likely this...
BAT-100 Heavy Duty Neoprene CV Boot For Use on Pro 4, 930 Joints & H3 Boot.
I ordered 2 of them on the 5th of September because I like to have spares... I had them sent to 410Fortune. Saturday I removed my first axle with relative ease.
I was so excited about my success I forgot to even look to see if it had a slit or a pin hole

the only causality was a clip...
It holds this line to the rusty piece. Its held on with a little bolt
I boxed up the axle an added another little surprise box for 410Fortune an got it shipped out Saturday.
The axle arrived at 410s shop monday... just waiting for the boot...
In the mean time I picked up a laptop an made an appointment for the tuner on the 27th.
I'm hoping to have the axle back an installed on the truck in time to do some remote tuning to fix the hot start an smooth out anything else....
