I'm pretty sure my 4406 just gave up the ghost. After my SAS, I've been driving it with a pretty sever driveline angle (14* at the tcase). As a result of this, I got a pretty wicked vibration from 20-40mph. I was planning to fix this with a slip yoke eliminator and a cv style ujoint at the tcase. Anyways, it has always had a pretty loud whine upon deceleration. friday, the ass-end locked up. it freed up after i pulled over. I took everything apart, looks good. But, i noticed I have horizontal and vertical play and the tcase output shaft. and a REALLY loud whine/grind upon deceleration. Is this time for a rebuild, or do the 4406's normally have play in the output shaft? If they do, I'll know it was my u-joint that got overflexed, as the lockup was at a good speed over a rail road crossing.

only piece of information I can give you is that my 4406's output shaft did not have any kind of play whatsoever before and after installation.

Yeah my 4406 is tight as well minus the seal leak, but that is aalot of stress to place on the case, good luck
