4r44e rebuilt but now no reverse

Just wanted to ask since I installed the OD sprag
Backwards
Would installing the reverse sprag backwards cause a no reverse situation?
Which Way should the output shaft turn when the reverse sprag is on correctly?

You would still have reverse if the low sprag is in backwards because the low band holds the drum anyways.

The input sprag has to overrun for 2nd and it has to hold for reverse and you have bind in 2nd and no reverse.

hello all
I’m new. First post.
I just got done rebuilding a 4r44e in a 98 Mazda B2500. A full rebuild. Replaced
all bands
reverse drum
Valve body shift kit
All new solenoids
New wire harness
The reverse servo was in perfect condition I only replaced the o ring
Put in the 20 quarts of Mercon V
-2 quarts in the torque converter
-8 quarts in the transmission
I let the engine run for 30 min to operating temp
All gears work except reverse.
I even jacked up the rear and still no reverse
If Anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hey i had same problem put it in reverse rev engine up a little and kill the engine in reverse you may have to do it couple of times but worked for me

This is a 6 year old thread. I hope he’s fixed it by now.
