I read on this forum about the shudder problem at very low constant speed (34 mph) could be a bad torque converter or a lose of lubricity to the transmission fluid. When my 99 5.0 started doing this I tried putting in a small bottle of friction modifier and found that after a few miles, less than a hundred, that the shudder had disappeared. It worked!
Servicing the transmission with new Mercon V and it is like new again. My car has 99K miles and has had 2 pervious fluid and filter changes.
Thanks for the good advice.
