5.0 Swap

I'm swapping my 4.0 ohv out of my 2000 Explorer and putting in a 5.0
Are the air filter boxes the same for all engines. I noticed that the air filter and the Maf are the same. Thanks for any help!

just because they look the same does not mean they are calibrated the same

in 2000 the Explorer was avail with a OHV, SOHC 4.0L V6 or the 5.0L V8

of course Ford uses the same coolant bottles, battery tray, power distribution box, air box, etc on all 2000 models...I believe

Just because the MAS sensor has the same housing does NOT mean it will work with the 5.0L computer....they are calibrated internally

you need just about EVERYTHING from under the hood of your V8 donor... from radiator to transmission mount, you need everything
 






OP, you do realize you will need the transmission and T-Case from a 5.0 Ex right?

I have the 4r70w with the AA and Baumann Controller already so I'm good to go there. Looking up some part #'s online I found out that the Maf and air filter are the same for all engines in 2000. So, I'm hoping the air box might be the same. This is the easiest swap I've ever done as far as harness plug and play and bolt holes lining up. My Tweecer will take care of the rest.

um you dont need the bauuman controller with the explorer 5.0L computer?
I assumed since you are asking about the MAS being the same that you were using a 5.0L explorer drivetrain?

The AA adapter is only if you want to go down from the 6 bolt t case to the Ford 5 bolt?

I am confused because most people who put a 2000 5.0L into a 97 truck just need to bolt everything in... why the adapter? why the Baumman controller?
 






I want the 2 speed transfer case and control of the shift points and converter lockup. Nothing is 1997, everthing is 2000. All of that is complete, I just had questions on the airbox.
